[Opinions] Sarah
Everyone that I have met hates my name due to it's popularity and sound. It is my name and I, sorta agree. Is there anyone with a different perspective or do I change it?
My middle name is Maya though.

It is nms, but I wouldn't change it. It is your name. Save the names you like for your children (if you want them that is).

While I have known many people named Sarah, it still maintains a certain dignity and classical beauty. I can see why people have used it for so many generations; it is easy to pronounce and spell, can stand alone without a nickname, has had many famous bearers, and with its long history, provides a sense of heritage. While I’m not usually into strong royal affiliations, it is cool how the Biblical character went from being Sarai, “my princess,” to Sarah, “princess.” It was a way of saying that this woman wasn’t going to just be someone’s little princess, she would start a nation.

I don’t hate Sarah, but it’s so common I have no real opinion on it.

I like Sarah!a fine name. given enough daughters, I might well have named one Sarah.
To be fair, it isn't much used in my particular community.

Weird, I'd guess most people I know like Sarah. It's not one of my favorites, but I don't mind it...it comes across to me as sort of...unassuming yet assertive.

I wouldn't change my name over other people's opinions. Yes, I'm one of the ones that has called Sarah 'bland' in past posts. It's still a decent name to have. I'd personally prefer being named Maya over being named Sarah, but if I'd have been called Sarah I'd probably stick with it. My own name is not really awesome to me. It's grown on me. I used to dislike it, and now it's just my name. An annoying name for going abroad (and I currently live 'abroad'), a little dated in my own country and the less common spelling variant of a known name (so I had to always specify the spelling). I'm not even contemplating changing it though. My mom loved it and it's my name and that's good enough :)

The sound is great. It got overused, but consider all the Jennifers, who had that so much worse than you. Sarah is both prettier and more classic than Jennifer, as well.
I think if you want your name to be more memorable, you could just start introducing yourself as Sarah Maya.
That's as easy to say as Isabella, and would make your name more memorable.
And it probably would not bother you as much, when your friends and family forget and still call you Sarah.

I like your name :) I prefer the spelling of Sara because I love the book 'A Little Princess'.Your name is beautiful with a good meaning, don't change it :)Maybe it helps to ask your parents why the chose your name, there might be a nice story behind it that could inspire you to keep it.Otherwise you could just leave it as it is and go by your middle name. Maya is nice too.

I have a little bit of different perspective, because I don't hate the name. I can see why it's had such wide appeal. However, it's not that different a perspective, because I am thoroughly tired of it. To those here who have read previous posts of mine, I will sound like a broken record, but for your benefit I will say that I have never in my life known so many people of one name than of Sarah. I have known no fewer than ten. It was to the point that we always had to say, "Sarah Lastname" or we wouldn't know who we were referring to. That said, I don't support people changing their names except in extreme cases.

If you like your name, you should keep it. Maya is pretty, though.

There's nothing wrong with the name Sarah. I will admit to finding it somewhat boring, but I also think it has a pretty sound. If I were a Sarah, however, I would opt to go by Sally.

Sarah is a beautiful, classic name, I love the it and I hope to give it to a daughter someday, it was my great great grandmother's name. The biblical Sarah is a wonderful namesake too.

You should have a much better reason that "just about everybody hates my name and I kinda do too" before you decide to change your name.
I'd also say, if people are telling you to yoru face that they don't like your name, you associate with some pretty classless and crass people.

A response to RoxStar, this post was just made to gain opinions from other people, I am not intending to change it just yet. And I havent liked my name since....10?

Hi!I agree with those people. Sarah's just super popular and I think it's boring. Also I had a bad association with it with Newsies. Sorry, that's just how I feel.

I love the name Sarah, in fact it was my favourite name for a looooong time. Okay, it's common, but it's sweet and classy and timeless. It's also pretty to look at and ages well. Yep, Sarah has still got it in my books.

Sarah is beautiful, even if it is common. I wouldn't say I hate it.I would consider it as a middle name. I wouldn't change your name based on what others have said.
