[Games] Violetta's Game of Life - Round 2
Round 2 - Buying a house5 months later...You’ve just moved into a new house! Choose one at http://www.houseplans.com/index.asp. Where do you live? What country? In a large city or in suburbia? I’ve given each of you a square footage limit based upon your salaries, but other than that, have fun! When you’ve chosen your house, give it a name that you think suits it. If you choose, you can go further and talk a bit about each room. Some of you already mentioned buying a house, which is fine. If you want, you can try to find a house that fits your origional description, but you don't have to.

Square footage limit - 1,250http://www.houseplans.com/plan_details.asp?id=4652&st=3Paddy and Anna live in a bungalow on the outskirts of NYC, in a fairly quiet neighborhood. Anna does most of her writing while sitting in either the guest room next to the master bedroom, which she painted a light gold with white trim, or on the covered porch in the front yard. There are two little girls who live across the street who have taken a liking to Anna and Paddy both, and often visit Anna during the day to play dolls on the front porch. Their mother sends flowers over once in a while, and Anna keeps the flowers in the pale yellow guest room. The other guest room is Paddy’s rehearsal room, where he has all of his music, scripts, tape recorders, pitch pipes, dance shoes, stage makeup, etc. His old computer is in there as well, and his laptop stays next to his old computer most of the time. Anna’s laptop tends to be in the master bedroom or the yellow guest room, which Paddy has dubbed Anna’s gold mine. The family room walls are a rich bronze color, and the couches, ottoman, and armchair are dark green micofiber with pillows and blankets that match the walls. The master bedroom is painted a muted dark green, and the furniture is all either bronzed metal or a rich bronze color, with green throws and pillows. The kitchen matches the pale gold guest room, and has a four-leaf clover painted border at about eye level.

Square footage limit - 1,500Andrew and I recently bought our first house together! It was very fun, not the least bit stressful- we weren't really in any hurry to find a place, even when we decided to marry, we hadn't really given moving in together much thought. Then, on our honeymoon, It suddenly hit me. I just said to Andrew, "Oh my goodness! We're married and don't have so much as an apartment!" We had been living in our own separate places at the time, though we were seeing each other everyday. We were both rather quiet for a few seconds, unsure of what we were going to do. Then we just laughed. I couldn't believe we had forgotten! Still on our honeymoon in Hawaii, Just for fun, Andrew said, "Let's go find a house!" and so, we went searching for houses. We did indeed fall head over heels in love with a pretty spacious apartment, and were thrilled to both agree on a place we loved. So thrilled, in fact, that we were just seconds away from buying it. In the end, though, we came to our senses. "What about our family?"
"What if we get tired of it?"
"What if we run out of space when we have children?"Andrew asked the last question. I was really quite shocked. Of course, I knew I wanted to have children- but I had no idea Andrew had such intentions. Of course, he was perfectly willing, friendly, responsible, and playful, but he just didn't ever show any signs of wanting a child. After that of course, we planned about a huge house with ten children. (Half joking, half rather serious- I don't think we'll have ten children, but definetly a few)

We live in a cottage (#53-106) in the USA, in a semi-rural community a ways outside of New York City. I have to drive into the city every day to get to rehearsals, but it's not painfully far. Ron teaches at the town's junior high and loves it.
The cottage has a nice layout and a decent size, nothing too big or too small. There's a lot of room to grow, as our family will be, too. It has a big yard (which we love!) and a great neighborhood. It's set on Aspen Drive, with a couple of farms nearby. This is good because I grew up helping my neighbor with his farm throughout my childhood and I think it's a great thing for a kid to do.http://www.houseplans.com/plans/te/53-106te-1222.jpgFree Image Hosting by FreeImageHosting.net

screenwriter, $100,000Jack and I have been married for five months now and have settled nicely into our new home. It's located in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston, a city we both love. It's also close to both of our workplaces, so commuting is never really a problem. Currently, we are in the process of modernizing the house a bit, which isn't at all hard, since Jack is an architect.

I didn't think we needed to get such a big house, it is almost 3000 sq ft! But Christopher said that we wouldn't want to have to move into a new house when we decided to have children. I was kind of shocked, we hadn't spoken much about having children and I sort of assumed that he wouldn't want any because he was so busy with his job. However he assured me that he'd only want about six children maybe seven. I burst out laughing, I couldn't help it especially not with him watching me indulgently as though no matter what I asked him for he'd do everything in his power to provide. I told him I wanted to have him to myself for a little while but I would love to have children someday. I was also surprised that he wanted to get our house a good fourty minute drive from the city so that instead of seeing all buildings out of my windows I saw trees and a poud. I decided to call our house Adela, which is spanish for 'Noble'.
Moving in was a big ordeal and his mother, Lily, insisted on helping me decorate it, not that I minded. She and I had similar tastes and soon everything was finished and in place. Not that I always knew where everything's place was and I had to spend many weeks living there before I fully accustomed myself to everything. I as found out that Chris enjoyed making pottery. I was so surprised when he told me I would have laughed except for a niggling feeling that he may not be kidding. He wasn't of course and one thing I love to do is spend a hour or so in the morning watching him mess around with the clay. Not that he messed around with it, he was very good at pottery, at everything he seemed to try. He would concentrate totally on the lump of clay and slowly mold it into something.

It's a nice one-story house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Obviously, we'll have to move if we decide we want more than 2 children with their own bedrooms. But for the moment, it's a nice start to having our own house.

Kevin and I had bought a house in southern California which we love! it has plenty of room for the two of us and a couple of kids. but when we start having more than 3 kids (which hopefully we will) we might need a bigger house. Kevin has decided to name our house "Harper's Haven." we have a beautiful backyard and Kevin and his brother, Brandon, are working on building a gazebo.

http://www.houseplans.com/plan_details.asp?id=25334&st=43 - This one!
It's a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom bungalow with 1735 sq feet. They moved from the downtown Chicago apartment to this place in the suburbs. The commute to both of their work is a little lengthy, but it's worth it for this house.

I changed their last names now that they're married, to Valentine-Driver - are you keeping their maiden names when you post our family for each round? :-)Buying A HouseImage hosting by PhotobucketThis is the layout plan of Ray and Daisy's flat, which they finally bought together after living out of Ray's boxroom in share accomandation for months on end. They are living above a large Indian resturant in Covent Garden, London - it was a bit of a push to afford a three-bedroomed place, but as they would both like children one day, Daisy and Ray felt there was little alternative. It's certainly a step up from their last place, and Ray has jokingly nicknamed the flat "The Gates Of Rome" (Ray, as a mockney, litters his speech with a lot of cockney rhyming slang).Of course, they'll probably have to move if they have more than two children, but for now they're happy in their own little flat.Image hosting by PhotobucketThis is the street they live on.DH: Raymond James Valentine-Driver "Ray"
