[Surname] Pełczyk, a surname from Greater Poland.
Hello everyone,This is the surname of my only known Polish ancestor, who was born in the early 19th century. Do you happen to know of any sources that mention the meaning of this surname, or at least what kind of surname it is (e.g. patronymic or occupational)? Variant spellings of this surname include:Pałczyk or Połczyk
Pełczak
Pełczek
Peltzik
Peltzyk
Pelzek
Pilczak
Pilsach
Pilsack
PilsakThe surnames Pełczyński and Peltujczyk (also found spelled as Pilluyczyk) might possibly be related. Is there also any chance that this surname could have been of Ashkenazi Jewish origin? I recently had my DNA analysed by 23andMe and discovered that 0.3% of my DNA is Ashkenazi Jewish, which I suspect should come from this ancestor.Thank you very much in advance for any input that you can provide,Lucille
