I didn't mean to argue about usage. My intention in responding was to point out "that shouldn't be of concern" is a matter of perspective (I've met people who speak Hebrew, so...what would they have thought if I'd introduced myself as
Zola? I don't actually care, because my name isn't
Zola, but if it was, why shouldn't I be concerned enough about that to be informed?).
But anyway, I've only seen
Zola used by African Americans. I've assumed that's more (or at least equally) because it's Zulu than because it's Italian, though I have no way of knowing for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if it's used more in connection with Italian, but I have zero personal experience with that.
