H (30): Daniel Christoph Andrist

Daniel is an architect from Switzerland with light blonde, smooth straight hair and grey eyes. Mirela, an elementary school teacher, is Albanian and has dyed black frizzy curls with green eyes. They met when Mirela came to study at university in Geneva, where they now live together.
Year 1 – 8 Career event
Aged 31 & 27
Mirela has shifted her job to a new– albeit related–field where her passions for language and helping children led her to become a speech-language pathologist.
Year 2 – 4 Pet event
Aged 32 & 28
Daniel and Mirela decided to get a dog, which they named Lilou. She is around 25 lbs. mixed breed with sandy brown, straight-haired coat and green eyes.
Year 3 – 5 Life event

The couple had been trying for two years to have a child, but tragically they suffered the miscarriage of their son at 22 weeks. They decided to name him Christoph Bashkim, after his father and an Albanian middle name meaning “together”.
Year 4 – 8 Career event
Aged 34 & 30
Mirela has been having a difficult time since last year’s loss, and left her full-time job as a speech-language pathologist, channeling her emotions into art. She has had unexpected success with her new creative job, selling a few pieces to friends. One caught the eye of a collector who encouraged her to build her portfolio in hopes to get her work in a studio, which she’s looking forward to as a goal.
Year 5 – 10 Life event
Aged 35 & 31
Daniel’s company offered him a promotion. The only catch—it was in Hong Kong. After discussing things, the Andrists decided to take on the new adventure.
Year 6 – 2 Child event

The Andrists welcomed a baby girl, Gentiana Zoé! Gentiana, whom they’ve taken to calling Genie (pron. zhen-EE) was named after one of her mother’s favorite flowers, the gentian, a trumpet-shaped flower which is often a striking shade of bluish purple or delicate fuchsia. She has mouse brown straight hair with two different colored eyes – one a grey-ish hazel and one her mother’s green.

Pet dog: Lilou
Before Genie came along, the Andrists applied for adoption, and to their surprise and delight the adoption came through this year! They are now the proud parents of another one-year-old baby girl, Demettria (Demi for short). Her first name is common in New Caledonia and they didn’t want to change it especially since it went well with Gentiana already! They gave her the middle name Hanna after Daniel’s mother. Demettria is from New Caledonia, a French collectivity of islands in the southwest Pacific Ocean near Australia. She doesn’t have much hair yet, but it looks like it will be auburn and straight. Her eyes are grey just like Daniel’s, which they were amused to see since it’s not a common eye color. While they’re quite overwhelmed with two babies at once, Mirela and Daniel (and Lilou – more friends to snuggle with and watch over!) couldn’t be happier.

Shortly after Demi’s arrival, the Andrist couple was astounded to find out that they were pregnant – with twins!!! Needless to say they were shocked. Between their previous infertility struggles including the loss of their son Christoph by miscarriage, to their blessing of two daughters the same age (effectively twins), the last thing they expected when decidedly not trying to get pregnant was…twins. Daniel seemed to remember a cousin who had twins, though, so maybe they run in his family? The new daughters have been named Alina and Noelia (nicknames Ali and Lia) with Albanian middle names chosen because their “hope” of having children was fulfilled and these girls are like an “echo” of last years’ “twins” arriving anew. Alina takes after both of her parents, having platinum blonde hair like Daniel did when he was small, but kinky-curly like Mirela’s. She has, strangely, black eyes, which they can’t figure out who she got those from. Noelia has red-brown hair (Mirela’s original color before she dyed it black), which is straight like Daniel’s, and also a bit anomalously in the family, blue eyes.

Sadly, the Andrist family dog, Lilou passed away quietly from an undiagnosed heart condition.
