Emiel and Dania met eighteen months ago when Emiel spent a semester studying abroad in England, where Dania's family moved when she was seven. When baby Emiel was six months old, Dania found out she was expecting again! At her first ultrasound, they found out she was having twins! Neither Emiel nor Dania has twins in the family, so it was a bit of a shock to them--especially with another infant already at home. They made a lot of adjustments, but were ready when identical little boys, Ruben Hatim and Arend Khayri, joined the family at 32 weeks, 6 days. Dania also cut back her hours at work, to two part-time days a week, allowing her to spend most of her time with the boys.

As if three boys under the age of two wasn't busy enough, Emiel and Dania welcomed a baby girl into their family this year--baby Layla Paulien was born just after the twins' first birthday. She has darker hair and skin like her mother, but sports vibrant green eyes. Emiel and Dania are struggling to keep their heads above water, but wouldn't trade their four-toddler tornado for anything (except maybe some sleep).

This year, Emiel and Dania (finally) have enough money saved up to move from their flat in the city to a house on the city outskirts with a little more room to spread out. Emiel Jr, Ruben, and Arend love to play outside in their new yard, while Dania enjoys the space indoors she has to keep five children and their myriad belongings. Emiel enjoys the little "study" space he carved out in an upstairs alcove that is his space alone, while Layla and Sarah get their own little room away from their three elder brothers. Everyone is happy with their new arrangements!
