I like Astrid a lot, much more than Ingrid but not as much as I like Sigrid.
I really don't think it needs a nn - it sounds good and is a convenient length already. I don't enjoy the sound of Aster. Star and Daisy are a stretch but sound more acceptable. The nn to avoid of course is Ass.

We had a conversation about all of those names when he mentioned liking Astrid.
I also prefer Sigrid to Astrid. He told me that he likes Sigrid but not as much as Astrid and he dislikes Ingrid. He also mentioned liking the name Moira a lot, he told me he likes a lot of Irish, Scottish, and Nordic names.
I know of my favorite names he likes Frida/ Frieda, Fiona, and Iris.
