Personally, I wouldn't pronounce Alice and Clarice the same (live in England).
Alice = ah-LYSS
Clarice = clah-REES
I love Alice, it's high in my top 10, I think it's all those things you think of Clarice. I don't find it boring, I find it pretty kickass, actually.
