I think it has been quite some time since I have last asked about this name. What do you think of Eliana?

I like it in principle. It's nice and flowing, pretty and princess-y. So if that's what you want from a name, perfect. It could be shortened to Ellie, which is very popular so Eliana wouldn't stand out too much (and it's probably why I couldn't use it because my sister is Ellie) but if you wanted Eliana has other nickname potentials such as Lia, Liana, Elia or Ana.

I like Eliana very much. Then again, I adore flowing, open-voweled names. I like the way Eliana looks, sounds, and its meaning. Having said that ... because of its length, it would likely get shortened. And while I like Ellie, Liana, etc., I don't see the point of using Eliana just to have it shortened. (It reminds me of Anastasia in that regard.) In addition, the entire name seems too long for everyday use (again, like Anastasia) so it's not something I'd likely use. I'd love to see it on someone else, however.

I love a variety of short forms - and that a person can be "known as" a different short form (or formal variety) among different sets of family members, friends, colleagues or other relations. That said - I've still yet to try introducing myself with the n/n "Babs" - a name by which I was lovingly teased with on just one occasion.

I really like it and actually considered using it during our last pregnancy. I would only use it as a mn though, as the nn Ellie is unavoidable here in Australia I believe! I love the Hebrew meaning of the name, "My God has answered", just beautiful.

I think it's pretty. It def. has some trendy like qualities about it and I dislike the nickname "Ellie" but overall it's a nice name with a lovely meaning.

It's a GP for me. There are too many issues for me to feel comfortable using it myself, but I think it's beautiful and strong without being too harsh.

A few years ago, a co-worker of mine named her daughter Eliana. I was thinking that it may have been a spelling variation, so I just went to look at her Facebook page to check. It is Eliana, no spelling variation, and I saw that apparently they mostly call her Ellie.
Actually, I find the name annoying. It's a jumble of vowels that appeal to those who want a pwetty-pwetty name, in my opinion. It seems to have no substance. Ellie has never appealed to me either, but if it's going to be used, I'd rather see it as a nickname for Eleanor.
