[Opinions] Re: Some recent BAs + siblings
in reply to a message by Alda
I like: George Matthew -- it's hard to choose a stronger, more classic combo than this
Cedric James -- still classic, but a bit more adventurous
Edmund Julius -- these names aren't really the same style, but I think the combo works
Walter James -- refreshing to see Walter on a young person
I dislike:Finley Brave -- Finley is ok, but I've always found the "word as middle name" thing cheesy (maybe because this was a theme for my family?). I don't mind word names if they actually have history as names, but Brave really doesn't. Wendy Grace -- Wendy has always struck me as too immature, probably because of the meaning. Emmary JoAnne -- Emery would have been so much betterPippa Lorraine -- I like Pippa as a nickname for Philippa, but not on its own. Ransom -- A real head scratcher. Unlike most word names it doesn't even have a positive meaning.Maximus Rolfus -- I know this is a real name with a real history, but the -us endings seem pretentious to me. Rolfus is a Latinization of a Germanic name, which really seems kind of off to me.
Other thoughts:Thomas Aquinas is interesting -- named in honor of the medieval philosopher, I assume? This family must be traditionalist Catholic judging by the sibling names.*previously posted as summitseeker*

Ransom might be named after the main character in C.S. Lewis's Space Trilogy. Thomas Aquinas - yes. He was born on the feast day of St. Thomas Aquinas.
