I can get behind some place names because they sound namey but this doesn't. It's just plain ugly.

I like itI also like North and Saint too. They’re gender neutral and totally fit the lifestyle these people and their kids will lead.

i'm not a fan of Chicago as a name so much, or a fan of those two celebrities at all, but it's honestly not so bad. i do like how it's gender neutral, like you pointed out.also, if my last name were West and i could get away with it/was bold enough, i'd name a kid North too.

Stupid, tacky and wordy, just what I expected from them. Such an ugly name for a person and her name, Chicago West, sounds like a direction to give someone!! "I'll meet you at Chicago West at 7pm"! And her nn Chi, no matter what they say, it's clearly not obviously pronounced "shy"! It's "chee" and the nn shy doesn't make sense anyway, just another ridiculous factor imo.
vote up1
To be fair, anyone from or even familiar with the city will know that Chi is pronounced shy.

Chi-Town is a nickname for Chicago, and it is pronounced like Shy-Town.
vote up1
... have been pronouncing Chi-Town wrong forever.
vote up1
"Chee" makes less sense than "Shy" if you know her full name is Chicago.

I think Chicago got the raw deal. North is kind of dumb, but I hear she goes by Nori, which is adorable. Saint isn't THAT weird. Chicago, for a girl? Um, okay. Are either of them from Chicago, or have any personal ties to Chicago? Seems pretty random.ETA: Nevermind, my question was answered further down the thread. That'll learn me from not reading any posts before I respond. :P

I'd rather be Chicago than North or Saint.

I absolutely hate it. North & Saint are terrible too. Chicago sounds especially bad with the last name West. It reminds me of those TV Shows... Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago P.D., Chicago Justice, etc.

Nope. And nowhere close to what I was guessing.I weep for the name True West that was not to be lol :,(

umm...yeah, no. Just no! I saw it coming with West as the last name, but I still don't like it!

I grew up in the Chicago area and I just can’t picghre it on a human at all! Also, they’re just going to call her Chi (pronounced shy) so I don’t understand why they didn’t just name her Shy / Shey / Chey.

Yuck. But very typical.
I'm only surprised her middle name isn't Hope. Chicago Hope.
But Hope would be too normal.
vote up1
Welp, at least it isn't spelled Khicago?
vote up1
Wow, they managed to choose something worse than North and Saint!
vote up1
I knew it was going to be something equally ridiculous and moronic to their other kids names. That there was obvious LMAO.North, Saint, Chicago. *cringes* makes me think of a name of a hospital or something.
SAINT hearts hospital in NORTH of CHICAGO.
vote up1
Hi !!!!Well.. I can see the point.North, Saint and Chicago are non-nanes
North, Saint and Chicago are unisex
North is a direction, Saint a word and Chicago a place.I guess that they try to be post-modern and original and very VIP parents.Obviously I dislike all three of them.But.. Congratulation Kim and Kanye !!!

Oh it's awful. There are much nicer place names. My grandmother is from Chicago, and although she's lived in Columbus for years, I've messaged her and she's not impressed!

Frick that’s painful.

Ugh. Why didn't they use Donda? Or if they like cities, Paris, Vienna or London
vote up1
Because Donda is dowdy, and not the least bit cool, or trendsetting. People expect them to use Donda with every kid, and it just ain't gonna happen.

ThisEveryone's like "why not Donda?" -- because it's ugly! (Chicago's not exactly cute sounding either but I'd rather be Chicago than Donda in 2018). And not everyone wants to honor. Kanye can love his mom without using her name on a kid.
Plus, he has a company named DONDA, the Kanye West Foundation has been renamed as The Dr. Donda West Foundation, and he founded another non profit called Donda's House. The lady has been honored.

They're ripping off Pete Wentz and not even doing a good job-- I'd rather be a boy named Bronx than a girl named Chicago (plus they each have a Saint-- Saint Wentz and Saint West). Maybe they'll call her Chi-Town for short. Or just Chi, I guess. Chica. ETA: The kids already call her Chi prn "Shy" http://www.tmz.com/2018/01/19/kim-kardashian-kanye-west-baby-girl-name-chicago/
(BTW, for those who don't follow this and need details in their BAs, Chicago [f] joins North [f] and Saint [m]. Remember when people used to complain when you didn't cite a source? Now I guess we're abusing punctuation too).

Interesting about the similar names. Kimye's not so original after all, lol.
vote up1
I'm beginning to think they may have a slight obsession with Pete Wentz.Pete is from the North Shore of the greater Chicago area, and as you've already said, he and his girlfriend named their son Saint. ;-)
vote up1
That's some Lincoln/Kennedy shit, right there. ;)

Hahahahaha...nicely done!

Haha at your BTWA nickname that is pronounced like the name Shai isn't too bad. I'm at least thankful Kanye and Kim haven't gone with a letter theme. Saint has grown on me and so has North, especially considering they call her Nori and I think that's cute. It probably helps that I find their kids unbelievably adorable...it makes me sad that they'll almost definitely grow up to be entitled little attention-seekers though.I'm also going to say, Chicago gets points for having meaning to them (Kanye was raised in Chicago). I'd want to call a little girl named Chicago "GoGo" as a fun nickname though haha.
vote up1
That is such a non-name sort of place name, and I'm not seeing any obvious nice nicknames. I kind of expected another single syllable word moniker. Weird.
vote up1
Kanye grew up in ChicagoSo I guess it has significance to them.
vote up1
yeah, I suppose ...But where a person grows up is such a random thing it seems like a cop-out to name your kid after it. I mean, he could just as easily have grown up in Naperville or Des Plaines or even Normal. It's just so lazy.
vote up1
Guess I should name my child Tallahassee. Tally makes a nice nickname. :D
vote up1
Goes great with your surname
vote up1
But, he didn't. He grew up in a very popular city with its own flavor that its citizens take a lot of pride in. So, I don't agree that it's just plain lazy...inspired in a very basic way, sure, but not lazy .
