My friend Desiree, mostly known as Des which fits her energetic personality, was called Daisy-Ray by a preschool teacher or aide who wasn't familiar with the actual name. I think I'm the only person who (sometimes) calls her Daisy now, but it's got the most positive associations for me and I've always loved it. And daisies were Chaucer's favourite flowers, or so he said.

Unlike most flower names, which tend to vary from the sentimental (Lily, Primrose, Rose) to the aggressively botanical (Magnolia, Narcissa), Daisy is cheerful and up-front. I go to and fro, combinations-wise: I'd like to have a DH or HD combo for family reasons - that'd be Daniel Hugo for a boy - but Daisy Harriet and Harriet Daisy seem equally good.
