I LOVE the name Daisy, it's a fave of mine and a name I would definitely consider using. We actually did have it on our list when pregnant with Eden, but it didn't suit her.

Too me it sounds childish and like a pet name. However, I've noticed that this sort of name seems more popular with British posters, so perhaps the name's reception would vary depending on where you live. There are a lot of names like Poppy, Petunia, Pippa, and Tillie that seem to work in Britain but aren't quite as well received in America.

Daisy is a legit, not trendy name that I like. It is friendly and memorable.

I could see pairing it up with a more formal and respectable middle name, which a DD could use instead on a resume or if Daisy just didn't suit her as she grew.

Like Ruby, it's very cute, to the point of being too cute for a human, especially a grown-up human.

My friend Desiree, mostly known as Des which fits her energetic personality, was called Daisy-Ray by a preschool teacher or aide who wasn't familiar with the actual name. I think I'm the only person who (sometimes) calls her Daisy now, but it's got the most positive associations for me and I've always loved it. And daisies were Chaucer's favourite flowers, or so he said.

Unlike most flower names, which tend to vary from the sentimental (Lily, Primrose, Rose) to the aggressively botanical (Magnolia, Narcissa), Daisy is cheerful and up-front. I go to and fro, combinations-wise: I'd like to have a DH or HD combo for family reasons - that'd be Daniel Hugo for a boy - but Daisy Harriet and Harriet Daisy seem equally good.

I usually like flower names, but this is one I only like as a nickname.

I'm with you. While I adore Daisy, there's a part of me that feels I might be doing the child a disservice because some people may not take her seriously based on her name. Daisy is actually represented on both sides of my family tree (paternal great-grandmother and maternal great aunt) so I could see myself considering this. I'd probably just use it as a nn (for Marguerite or Margaret) just in case she didn't care for it.

I do the same thing. I figure if I have that much trouble deciding whether or not it's ditzy it probably is. :(

I don't like Daisy. My grandmother was Dasie and she was strong, kind, beautiful, and truly lovely... and this name still gives me a cutesy, ditzy, vibe independent of her.

I think it’s fine. I used to think it unsuitable for adults, but actress Daisy Ridley changed my mind. I don’t think it’s ditzy at all. I actually really like it.

I like it. It’s cute, short, sweet, and has a good namesake (the flower). It’s also recognizable without being overly common.
