Kip is sort of cute as a nickname for Christopher, but Skip and Chip are terrible. Kip is terrible as a given name too.

I don't think they're going to get popular.

I think Kip is kind of cute, in a cheesy news anchor sort of way, but the only one I've ever heard of is Kip Kinkle, a school shooter.
