Today I encountered a little boy with this name, and it has always been a favorite so it's on my mind.

Generalized thoughts on the name... what impressions does it give you?

Do you say beh-NAY-uh or beh-NYE-uh?

I've always said beh-NAY-uh, but all my real life encounters have been the other pronunciation.

Do you prefer it to, or like it less than other Ben- names?

I work with a Benaiah. He pronounces it ben-AY-uh (like Isaiah). I don't really like it, but I think that's because it's so strongly associated with a specific person for me. I think otherwise I would really like it.

I think it's really nice. I've never met a Benaiah though. I pronounce it beh-NYE-uh, which I believe is the correct pronunciation. I probably prefer Benjamin a little more, but Benaiah is very handsome.

I'd say ben-EYE-a and don't care for it. I'm a fan of Ben names in general (love Benjamin, like Benedict and Bennett) but just don't like the sound of Benaiah.

I would assume a Benaiah's parents were extremely religious, probably Evangelical.
