I always thought it was PEE-e-nee too. I was just wondering because the comment section listed some other pronunciations. I was hoping that maybe the word was pronounced differently in different accents. I guess not :P

Where I live (French-speaking), the flower is generally called pivoine.
As-"That hailstorm last night really flattened my pivoine!
