Er ... how would an American pronounce Pamela? Apparently in 18th-century England it was pronounced paMEEla, which is awful.
I like it a lot, but would only ever consider it as a mn because I find Pam so very flat and unattractive. Pamela has a lively, emancipated-flapper vibe which I like.
