[Opinions] Pamela
I've always thought that Pamela was the most hideous name ever. Then I heard someone with a British accent say it. It's much prettier that way. In a book I'm reading, there's a character named Pamela who's called Pamma. I alternately like and am disgusted by it.
Wdyt of Pamela? Pamma?

Its always been either the Playboy playmate or a country hick to me, never anything in between. Perhaps if I grew up in another country I would have different associations.
My sister's name is Pamela. She was called Pammy as a child and is called Pam as an adult.
My logical mind is telling me that any opinion is possible about any name, and not only possible, but it's a certainty that someone somewhere holds the opinion, but still, it really surprises me to see Pamela referred to as hideous, even though you've changed your mind, lol.
I like Pamela and I've always thought that Pam has the best name of all my sisters and me. I like that a poet invented it and that it's the title of the first novel written in English.
I don't think the nn Pam is all that bad, either, although not as nice as the full name.

Lol, I still think it's hideous. Just a bit less so. Sorry!
I like it. It's pretty and pleasant. I could see it coming back in a few decades. Pamma and Pam are both rather unfortunate.
Er ... how would an American pronounce Pamela? Apparently in 18th-century England it was pronounced paMEEla, which is awful.
I like it a lot, but would only ever consider it as a mn because I find Pam so very flat and unattractive. Pamela has a lively, emancipated-flapper vibe which I like.

I have thought for several years that Pamela will make a huge comeback in a few decades with Pammy becoming the new Maddie or Abby :) I used to dislike it too but now I love it. There is something very sweet and soft about Pamela. I dislike Pam but Pammy is really cute and with Penelope and Penny getting trendy I think a comeback for Pamela is definitely possible. I love the meaning too. Pamma is awful though :P I also dislike Penna.
Pamela is a very pretty name. It's too bad most of them go by Pam, which is what I spray my cake pan with so the cake doesn't stick. Pamma sounds like baby talk, the way Jessa and Tessa do.
