I'm Italian..
I'm so sorry but I dislike Paolo
It has a bad sound imo (especially its "ao" )
It is also extremely popular here.
It is ageless so you can find people called Paolo everywhere.
I think it is boring and a bit too religious.
But if you are looking for an Italian name so of course Paolo is one of the most used ones.
