[Opinions] Minnie
Do you like Minnie? Do you think it could work for a child today?
Do you like Minnie or Maisie more?

As a full name I prefer Maisie, but as a nn I love both and think that they both work.
I like Minnie as a nn for Minerva. I slightly prefer Millie over Minnie. I like Millie as a nn for Millicent or Matilda. I also love Tillie as a nn for Matilda. Silly Tillie Millie!
I like Maisie as a nn for Marguerite and other Margaret names. Maisie works especially well for Marguerite since Daisy also works as a nn. I'd sometimes call her Maisie Daisy.
To give you an idea of how I feel about nn's I gave my little sister as many as I could. She hated most of them, although she likes Nick, Nicky, and Snickerdoodle. Our best friend growing up found one I missed which is Nickel which she likes. My sister Nicole's least favorite was Knick-knack Paddy-Whack, Give Your Dog a Bone! This Old Man Came Rolling Home! Her second least favorite was Nick Knack. She also hated Nick Louie which my mom came up with which was what originally inspired me. She also hated Nicola pronounced like in the Ricola commercial which my mom started but I continued.

I think Minnie is very cute and could see it on a child these days, definitely. I prefer Maisie or Maisy though, just because I prefer the meaning.
I think both work for kids today. I think Maisie would be far more trendy.
I do know a few girls either names or nicknames Maisie right now. I only know adults named or nicknamed Minnie.
I personally ADORE Minnie and/or Min as nicknames. I just can't decide on what full name I like for them. The Minnies I know are full-named Melinda and Benjamina. There is also Minnie Driver, whose full name is Amelia, which I quite like for Minnie.
The only little one I know nicknamed Maisie (the rest have it as a full name) is named Harper Mae.
I personally would use Minnie and not Maisie, but I do agree that Maisie fits better today.

My friend's mother was Minnie, short for Wilhelmina, so I'm pretty well accustomed to it but on an older person. Also, DH's cousin has a young relative named Caroline and called Minnie (to rhyme with her elder brother Andrew's nn - Pinnie. Don't ask.) but I've seen her maybe once.
So, a cautious yes to Minnie and a big, fat NO-O-O to Maisie. I love Daisy, though. No logic.

I dislike them both. I don't like the trend for twee nicknames as given names as I don't think they work on grown women. I dislike the connotation of 'mini' that goes with Minnie...imagine if she gre up to be 6 foot and strapping. But I dislike the sound of Maisie even more..
I prefer Minnie, I heard it on a character and just loved it. I took it off my list because Minerva 'Minnie' is my favourite name for a cat, and Minnie would probably be very ironic for any child I have, but I do like it. I do feel like Maisie would probably age better though.
...Mouse?
Inseparable, imo, and if they don't go for that they'll go for Mini as in miniature.
But all that aside... I still don't like the sound of Minnie at all. Nope. I do prefer Maisie over that, but I'm not over fond of that either. Of course I'm opposed to nicknames used as full names in general.

Definitely Maisie.
