Jonah and William have been together for three years; meeting in college. Jonah, who has straight auburn hair and green eyes, works as a high school math teacher while taking classes on the side to finish her PhD. William, who has wavy red hair and hazel eyes, is in the insurance business. The couple live in a simple two story single family home that Jonah’s family bought as a wedding gift.
YEAR 1: Random Event - adopt a pet
The house is much too large for two people, so after talking it over, Jonah and William decided to get a pet, preferably a dog, to fill the space. Besides, William was home a bit more than Jonah, and got a little lonely. After much searching and research, they found a sweet female border collie a year old at a rescue shelter. They adopted her and brought her home, naming her Dora.

YEAR 2: Family Event - someone moves in
Apparently Jonah’s sister Mo thought that the house was too empty even with a dog, so she moved into the large bedroom upstairs. All right, she had started college in town and didn’t want to pay for dorms. She looks much like Jonah, though with brown eyes instead of green, and is studying anthropology. No one knows how long she plans on staying.

YEAR 3: Child Event - new twins (boy-girl)
Finally, babies! And just in time. With the hardest bit of schooling behind her, Jonah is more than ready to be a mother to someone besides Dora the dog, and can’t wait to mother her babies. Though, no one expected twins. The twins were born in December, resulting in Jonah having to take maternity leave just when her students were preparing for exams, though William called them his Christmas babies. Their names are James William Horace Newman, named partially for his daddy and called Jamie, and Lillia Ray Bernice Newman, called by the first two names. Jonah and William decided to use double middle names for their children because the practice is a tradition in Jonah’s family. Both babies have wavy red hair, just like William, and grey eyes. Dora absolutely loves them, and Mo is a very enthusiastic babysitter - even though she had to give up the bigger room!

YEAR 4: Family Event - someone is injured
William broke his leg when re-shingling the roof over the summer! He’s all right, thankfully, but he’s had to sleep on the couch for a while, since he can’t take the stairs easily. Everyone’s glad that’s all that happened when he fell, though they did have to pay a man to finish the roof. Mo is still living in the spare room, though she’s begun dating - Jonah and William are praying she’ll move in with her girlfriend and out of their house!

YEAR 5: Career Event - large bonus
William has been given a raise! With his new position (which no one in the family but him understands) comes a big raise, which both he and Jonah are grateful for - the twins have started day care recently, and the new money is a big help. Mo has finally moved out, moving in with her girlfriend Aria, to Jonah and William’s pleasure. Mo still visits, however - she loves her niece and nephew!

YEAR 6: Child Event - adoption
William and Jonah have decided to adopt! They have taken in a twelve-year-old girl and her nine-year-old brother. The two siblings are from France, and are named Amelie Clothilde and Déodat Lucien. Their birth surname, Linville, has been added as a second middle name. Both children have wavy black hair and green eyes. Amelie was very pleased when she found out she would have a new little brother and sister, as she loves babies, and got right to helping Jonah look after them. Déodat is a little shyer, but he loves books. Jonah is working with both children on their English skills, though both are very good at the language already.

YEAR 7: Child Event - adoption
It didn’t take much to convince Jonah and William to adopt again. This time, they adopted a baby boy from the town they currently live in. They adopted him from a sixteen-year-old mother who requested no contact with the baby. They named him Antonio Clement Harper. The name Clement was suggested by Amelie, who was over the moon about the idea of a new baby coming to live with them. The new baby has straight black hair and blue eyes. As for Jamie and Lillia Ray, the twins are starting kindergarten a year early. Jamie loves sports, and William and Jonah are thinking of starting him in T-ball next year; Lillia Ray prefers reading - or rather, having Déodat read to her. He reads to her both in French and English, and Lillia Ray is picking up both languages at an incredible speed. Jonah has finally finished her PhD, and is thinking of getting a teaching job at the local university.

YEAR 8: Child Event - new baby girl
Five years after the twins, Jonah has given birth again! This time to a summer baby, a girl named Ophelia Renee Thomas. Lillia Ray has taken to calling her little sister Ophie, and it looks like the nickname will stick. She has wavy red hair and blue eyes. Amelie has started high school, and it’s very stressful for her. She would much rather be at home with the babies, but she understands that school is important. She loves making up stories, however, and entertains all her younger siblings with them. Déodat is shy as ever, though he continues to read to Lillia Ray - though not as often, as she’s learned to read on her own. Lillia Ray has started speaking both French and English near-fluently both at home and at school, where she and Jamie are in first grade. This both shocks and annoys her teacher, who can’t understand her all of the time. Jamie, who also speaks a little French, has started T-ball, and really enjoys it. William says he has the makings of an all-star (but he’s a little biased).

YEAR 9: Family Event - adopt a pet
Amelie has been begging for a cat for the past couple of years, and Jonah and William finally relented. She now has a calico kitten named Cosette, after Amelie’s favorite Les Mis character. Cosette and Dora, the family border collie, didn’t get along well at first, though they are used to each other now. Amelie spends the time she isn’t playing with her kitten, in school, or helping with her younger siblings writing. There’s a growing collection of notebooks filled with stories in her bedroom - which she shares with Lillia Ray and Ophie. Déodat is Amelie’s most avid reader, after their parents, and he and Lillia Ray translate the English-written stories into French for fun. Lillia Ray has been moved up a grade, now in third - a year above her twin. Jamie is a little jealous, but he doesn’t care for school as much as Lillia Ray. William and Jonah think that the family needs a new house - and are glad Mo moved out when she did!

YEAR 10: Career Event - start new career
Jonah and William can’t believe they’ve been married ten years! Six kids, one dog, one cat, and one younger sister who almost didn’t move out later, the Newman family is doing rather well. Unfortunately, Jonah cannot handle all six kids, both animals, and teaching high schoolers, so she left her job and became a stay-at-home mom. She’s a math nerd on the side, though, hoping to come up with some big breakthrough while doing the dishes. William has had to step up at work in order to provide enough money, and Amelie got a job too - though that’s perhaps more for herself than anything else. Speaking of Amelie, she’s begun dating, and has a nice girlfriend called Cara. Amelie also, at the urging of her family, sent one of her short stories to a national magazine, and it was published! She’s over the moon about it, and Jonah and William couldn’t be prouder. Déodat has been doing well in school, and at thirteen has decided that he wants to be a teacher like Jonah - though for languages. Jamie loves playing baseball, and is a “valuable player” according to his coach. He’s in third grade now, while Lillia Ray is in fourth. She’s doing very well, and enjoys being in a class with kids two years older than her and still able to keep up. Antonio and Ophie, both still little, are everyone’s favorite babies, and Amelie loves helping Jonah take care of them.

YEAR 11: Random Event - new job and move
Surprise! Jonah’s skills have been noticed. She was snatched up by the government for a sophisticated (and secret) math program, meaning the family had to pack up and move. They live in Washington, DC now, in an apartment that’s far too small for all eight of them. Unfortunately, they weren’t allowed to bring their pets, so Dora went to Jonah’s sister Mo, while Grandma and Grandpa Newman are taking care of Cosette. Amelie and Déodat adjusted easily to their high school, though Amelie was very broken up about leaving Cara behind. They have decided to keep up a long-distance relationship, however. Amelie has published more short stories, and is looking at going to an Ivy League school when she graduates. Jamie is in fourth grade now, and still plays baseball. He’s doing just fine. Lillia Ray, however, had some issues. The elementary school teachers didn’t believe that an eight-year-old was “smart enough” for a fifth grade class, so they tested her. They found that she was much smarter than they had thought, and even suggested moving her to sixth grade, but Jonah and William did not want that. So she’s in fifth grade, and still doing very well. She’s started learning German to go along with her French and English, and shows promise in language arts. Antonio, now four, has started to read, encouraged by Amelie, Déodat, and Lillia Ray. He also likes to build things - and they often stay up!

YEAR 12: Child Event - adoption
After many years with their six, and much deliberation, Jonah and William have decided to adopt again in the wake of Amelie graduating high school. They have adopted a baby girl from the area. Her name is Morgan Lee, and her birth surname, Xavier, was given as a second middle name. Morgan Lee has straight blonde hair and grey eyes. Jonah’s work is going well, and so is William’s. Amelie has published a novel, which was on the bestselling list, and is currently attending Yale. She and Cara broke up over the summer, however, and Amelie won’t allow mention of her name anymore. Déodat is doing very well in school, and has begun dating a girl named Laura, who was adopted from France when she was five. The two get on very well. Jamie has moved to fifth grade now, though he pays more attention to sports - soccer as well as baseball now - than to school. Lillia Ray is in sixth grade, and though she found middle school intimidating at first, she’s used to it. She has mastered German, and is nearly there with Japanese. She speaks a mixture of her four languages all the time, and it takes a lot to understand her. Antonio has started kindergarten, and seems to like it. He reads a lot, like his older siblings. Ophie is four, and while no longer the baby of the family, is totally okay with that.

YEAR 13: Child Event - new baby boy
Surprise! There’s a new baby! However, it is not Jonah and William, but Déodat and Laura. While the parents on both sides were upset at the development, there wasn’t much to be done, as Laura was determined to have her baby and raise him too, and Déodat wasn’t going to leave her. They named him Liam Elliot, and he has Déodat’s wavy black hair and Laura’s grey eyes. As for the rest of the family: Amelie is doing well in school. She hasn’t dated again, though she has put out a sequel to her book, which is just as popular as the first. Déodat is doing well in school, and has begun considering college, though he is planning on staying in the area to be close to Laura. Jamie has started sixth grade, and is playing baseball for the school’s team. However, his grades aren’t the best. Lillia Ray, in seventh grade, is as smart and talented as ever, having volunteered to translate her older sister’s novels into not one, not two, but four languages; she picked up Spanish after mastering Japanese. Antonio has moved away from reading and into building; he loves to build things. For the longest time, his half of his shared room was a blanket/furniture fort, until Jonah made him take it down. Ophie has started school, and finds herself interested in science, especially animals. Baby Morgan Lee is doing just fine, though she tends to get a little overlooked with everything going on with her siblings.

YEAR 14: Career Event - change jobs within current field
William has grown a little tired of his job as an insurance broker, and has moved into accounting - what he actually went to school for. He’s doing quite well, and is very happy. Jonah too, is happy with her work, and making lots of progress! Amelie has sped through college, and is graduating a year or two early with a degree in English Literature. She’s not what she wants to do yet, besides write, which is all she’s doing. She’s dating again, a girl named Yvonne who is a biology student at Yale. Déodat and Laura are still doing fine with little Liam. Laura has graduated high school, and stayed in her parents’ home to look after Liam, while Déodat has applied to local universities and gotten a job. Jamie is in seventh grade, though he isn’t doing too well. He says that school isn’t what he’s good at, not like his siblings, and he feels rather stupid for it, despite his parents telling him that they all have different talents. He’s dropped soccer at William’s insistence, though he still plays baseball. Lillia Ray is in eighth grade, and considering skipping ninth altogether. Jonah and William aren’t sure, though, so she’s stuck with it for now. Antonio is in second grade, and Ophie in first, and both are doing quite well. Ophie loves science, and Antonio has an aptitude for engineering, according to his teacher.

YEAR 15: Family Event - someone gets an award
Actually, two someones! Jonah, along with the rest of her team, were rewarded for their work; and Amelie won the Pulitzer Prize for the first of her three novels! She’s working on another right now, and hopes it will be accepted as well as the first three. Both mother and daughter are very excited about this. Speaking of news, Amelie and Yvonne have gotten engaged, though they plan on waiting a year or more to get married, which Jonah and William think is a good idea. Déodat and Laura are still together, and he attends a local university, looking for a degree in language teaching. Liam is a happy two-year-old. Jamie is in eighth grade now, and doing better than last year. He likes his classes and teachers much better, and still plays baseball - on the junior varsity team at the high school! Lillia Ray did end up skipping ninth grade, and now is in tenth. It’s a little overwhelming, being in high school at only twelve, but she handles it well. Besides, she can just start speaking German or Russian, her newest language, if anyone bothers her. Antonio has been doing well in school as well, now in third grade, as is Ophie in second. Ophie has been trying to convince her parents to get her a hamster. Morgan Lee, now three, is a very happy little girl, and loves playing with her nephew Liam.

Déodat is shy as ever, though he continues to read to Lillia Ray - though not as often, as she’s learned to read on her own. Lillia Ray has started speaking both French and English near-fluently both at home and at school, where she and Jamie are in first grade. This both shocks and annoys her teacher, who can’t understand her all of the time. Jamie, who also speaks a little French, has started T-ball, and really enjoys it. William says he has the makings of an all-star (but he’s a little biased).

YEAR 9: Family Event - adopt a pet
Amelie has been begging for a cat for the past couple of years, and Jonah and William finally relented. She now has a calico kitten named Cosette, after Amelie’s favorite Les Mis character. Cosette and Dora, the family border collie, didn’t get along well at first, though they are used to each other now. Amelie spends the time she isn’t playing with her kitten, in school, or helping with her younger siblings writing. There’s a growing collection of notebooks filled with stories in her bedroom - which she shares with Lillia Ray and Ophie. Déodat is Amelie’s most avid reader, after their parents, and he and Lillia Ray translate the English-written stories into French for fun. Lillia Ray has been moved up a grade, now in third - a year above her twin. Jamie is a little jealous, but he doesn’t care for school as much as Lillia Ray. William and Jonah think that the family needs a new house - and are glad Mo moved out when she did!

YEAR 10: Career Event - start new career
Jonah and William can’t believe they’ve been married ten years! Six kids, one dog, one cat, and one younger sister who almost didn’t move out later, the Newman family is doing rather well. Unfortunately, Jonah cannot handle all six kids, both animals, and teaching high schoolers, so she left her job and became a stay-at-home mom. She’s a math nerd on the side, though, hoping to come up with some big breakthrough while doing the dishes. William has had to step up at work in order to provide enough money, and Amelie got a job too - though that’s perhaps more for herself than anything else. Speaking of Amelie, she’s begun dating, and has a nice girlfriend called Cara. Amelie also, at the urging of her family, sent one of her short stories to a national magazine, and it was published! She’s over the moon about it, and Jonah and William couldn’t be prouder. Déodat has been doing well in school, and at thirteen has decided that he wants to be a teacher like Jonah - though for languages. Jamie loves playing baseball, and is a “valuable player” according to his coach. He’s in third grade now, while Lillia Ray is in fourth. She’s doing very well, and enjoys being in a class with kids two years older than her and still able to keep up. Antonio and Ophie, both still little, are everyone’s favorite babies, and Amelie loves helping Jonah take care of them.

YEAR 11: Random Event - new job and move
Surprise! Jonah’s skills have been noticed. She was snatched up by the government for a sophisticated (and secret) math program, meaning the family had to pack up and move. They live in Washington, DC now, in an apartment that’s far too small for all eight of them. Unfortunately, they weren’t allowed to bring their pets, so Dora went to Jonah’s sister Mo, while Grandma and Grandpa Newman are taking care of Cosette. Amelie and Déodat adjusted easily to their high school, though Amelie was very broken up about leaving Cara behind. They have decided to keep up a long-distance relationship, however. Amelie has published more short stories, and is looking at going to an Ivy League school when she graduates. Jamie is in fourth grade now, and still plays baseball. He’s doing just fine. Lillia Ray, however, had some issues. The elementary school teachers didn’t believe that an eight-year-old was “smart enough” for a fifth grade class, so they tested her. They found that she was much smarter than they had thought, and even suggested moving her to sixth grade, but Jonah and William did not want that. So she’s in fifth grade, and still doing very well. She’s started learning German to go along with her French and English, and shows promise in language arts. Antonio, now four, has started to read, encouraged by Amelie, Déodat, and Lillia Ray. He also likes to build things - and they often stay up!

YEAR 12: Child Event - adoption
After many years with their six, and much deliberation, Jonah and William have decided to adopt again in the wake of Amelie graduating high school. They have adopted a baby girl from the area. Her name is Morgan Lee, and her birth surname, Xavier, was given as a second middle name. Morgan Lee has straight blonde hair and grey eyes. Jonah’s work is going well, and so is William’s. Amelie has published a novel, which was on the bestselling list, and is currently attending Yale. She and Cara broke up over the summer, however, and Amelie won’t allow mention of her name anymore. Déodat is doing very well in school, and has begun dating a girl named Laura, who was adopted from France when she was five. The two get on very well. Jamie has moved to fifth grade now, though he pays more attention to sports - soccer as well as baseball now - than to school. Lillia Ray is in sixth grade, and though she found middle school intimidating at first, she’s used to it. She has mastered German, and is nearly there with Japanese. She speaks a mixture of her four languages all the time, and it takes a lot to understand her. Antonio has started kindergarten, and seems to like it. He reads a lot, like his older siblings. Ophie is four, and while no longer the baby of the family, is totally okay with that.

YEAR 13: Child Event - new baby boy
Surprise! There’s a new baby! However, it is not Jonah and William, but Déodat and Laura. While the parents on both sides were upset at the development, there wasn’t much to be done, as Laura was determined to have her baby and raise him too, and Déodat wasn’t going to leave her. They named him Liam Elliot, and he has Déodat’s wavy black hair and Laura’s grey eyes. As for the rest of the family: Amelie is doing well in school. She hasn’t dated again, though she has put out a sequel to her book, which is just as popular as the first. Déodat is doing well in school, and has begun considering college, though he is planning on staying in the area to be close to Laura. Jamie has started sixth grade, and is playing baseball for the school’s team. However, his grades aren’t the best. Lillia Ray, in seventh grade, is as smart and talented as ever, having volunteered to translate her older sister’s novels into not one, not two, but four languages; she picked up Spanish after mastering Japanese. Antonio has moved away from reading and into building; he loves to build things. For the longest time, his half of his shared room was a blanket/furniture fort, until Jonah made him take it down. Ophie has started school, and finds herself interested in science, especially animals. Baby Morgan Lee is doing just fine, though she tends to get a little overlooked with everything going on with her siblings.

YEAR 14: Career Event - change jobs within current field
William has grown a little tired of his job as an insurance broker, and has moved into accounting - what he actually went to school for. He’s doing quite well, and is very happy. Jonah too, is happy with her work, and making lots of progress! Amelie has sped through college, and is graduating a year or two early with a degree in English Literature. She’s not what she wants to do yet, besides write, which is all she’s doing. She’s dating again, a girl named Yvonne who is a biology student at Yale. Déodat and Laura are still doing fine with little Liam. Laura has graduated high school, and stayed in her parents’ home to look after Liam, while Déodat has applied to local universities and gotten a job. Jamie is in seventh grade, though he isn’t doing too well. He says that school isn’t what he’s good at, not like his siblings, and he feels rather stupid for it, despite his parents telling him that they all have different talents. He’s dropped soccer at William’s insistence, though he still plays baseball. Lillia Ray is in eighth grade, and considering skipping ninth altogether. Jonah and William aren’t sure, though, so she’s stuck with it for now. Antonio is in second grade, and Ophie in first, and both are doing quite well. Ophie loves science, and Antonio has an aptitude for engineering, according to his teacher.

YEAR 15: Family Event - someone gets an award
Actually, two someones! Jonah, along with the rest of her team, were rewarded for their work; and Amelie won the Pulitzer Prize for the first of her three novels! She’s working on another right now, and hopes it will be accepted as well as the first three. Both mother and daughter are very excited about this. Speaking of news, Amelie and Yvonne have gotten engaged, though they plan on waiting a year or more to get married, which Jonah and William think is a good idea. Déodat and Laura are still together, and he attends a local university, looking for a degree in language teaching. Liam is a happy two-year-old. Jamie is in eighth grade now, and doing better than last year. He likes his classes and teachers much better, and still plays baseball - on the junior varsity team at the high school! Lillia Ray did end up skipping ninth grade, and now is in tenth. It’s a little overwhelming, being in high school at only twelve, but she handles it well. Besides, she can just start speaking German or Russian, her newest language, if anyone bothers her. Antonio has been doing well in school as well, now in third grade, as is Ophie in second. Ophie has been trying to convince her parents to get her a hamster. Morgan Lee, now three, is a very happy little girl, and loves playing with her nephew Liam.
