I taught a Luana and her twin Samuela a while ago.

I think it's pretty. I know a girl who was just born who has this as a middle name: Olea Luana. Slurpy like seaweed spaghetti. Ewww.

I had an Aunt Luanne... when I was a kid, I thought her name was so beautiful! Maybe it is. As I got older I got a bias against it, as countrified and frilly.

I would say Loo-Ann-a and yes I think it's a little country.

I'd pronounce is loo-AH-na, with this spelling. (loo-ANN-a would be Louanna for me.)
With the loo-Ah-na pronunciation, I wouldn't say it's tacky or country-ish at all.

I say, "loo-AH-nuh." It reminds me of Hawaiian luaus (= a plus). :0)

Luana = loo-AH-na = not country-ish
Louanna = loo-ANN-a = country-ish

Yes, it is very redneckish and I say Loo-ANN-a!
