I think it is overly frilly and all I can associate is with opium!
I think it is a sweet name I wouldn't use it for a child as there are other flower names I like more and it is a bit old fashioned but not a bad name at all.

Love the name Poppy! It's so bright, friendly and happy imo and I love the flowers, they also give off a happy vibe. I know a lot of people here don't like it and think it doesn't work for an adult, but I disagree. I don't understand how some flower names can work on an adult and then others sound too young!? It's on my list, but DH isn't a fan and he just says it reminds him of grandfathers! Silly reason!
Very cute. And very British right now.
Poppy is horrible. So cutesy. Such an ugly sound reminiscent of popping and papa.
One of my top favourites as well
Poppy is the most awful, the most ridiculous, the silliest-sounding, the most ludicrous, the most laughable, the most absurd, the most farcical, the most puerile, the most inane, the most hare-brained, the most preposterous, the most risible name I have ever heard. The fact that it is popular in the UK is truly mind-boggling to me, more mind-boggling than the US 2016 election.
Why such a strong hate for the name? Surely there are far more horrible names out there? Maybe something like De'Layshaia or something? :)
No. There are none more horrible, and only a few as horrible. De'Layshaia is far better.
Why such strong hate for De'Layshaia?
Poppy is one of the dumbest names out there. It sounds cutesy and babyish, and in the US, a lot of people call their grandfathers Poppy.
It just sounds stupid, bottom line.

In my language, Poppy is a nickname for the name Caliopy, or however the Latin version is spelled. Personally, I think it's nice.
I think it's cute.
I like it! It's nowhere near my top 100, but it's nice!
I know a three-year-old Poppy who is delightful, but not even she can convert me to the name. It sounds horribly trendy and horribly floppy and just plain horrible. Of all flower names, it's got to be near the bottom - I suppose Geranium or Heliotrope would be worse, but I've never seen them used.
