Help[Facts] Fazu
I encountered this name as the name of recently-deceased Russian poet Fazu Aliyeva. She was not an ethnic Russian, but an Avar from Dagestan (a mostly Muslim republic of Russia located on the border with Azerbaijan). I'm guessing it could be of Caucasian origin (Avar is a Caucasian language), or possibly Turkic or Iranian . Does anyone have a clue as to what the name Fazu means?

(The latter URL looks weird because the first bit of the URL is in Cyrillic, it's not a dodgy site; at least my antivirus doesn't seem to have any issues with it so I'm pretty sure it's safe.)
I found a few sites that claim it is a contraction of Faiza, although Faiza itself seems to be used as well, so I'm not entirely sure on that.

Ah, sorry. Neither source gives much detail but both describe Fazu as a truncated form of Faiza, and being of Dagestani origin as you said.
