"Cool" name test: Go together to a local park on a Saturday morning and watch the parents and toddlers at the playscape, and picture yourselves as one of them, calling your own little diapered kid
Azrael. Picture yourself calling a bank or a landlord and spelling your name,
Azrael, for the person answering. If you still think it's cool, then I guess that's a go.
Nate by itself is OK IMO, and if you called him that from birth and always signed him up for things as
Nate unless you really had to put official
Nathan,
Nate would definitely stick.
I agree with Bear about Zech / blech (and dreck and heck and fleck. It's a sound I spit out).
Zachariah is better. I prefer
Zachary nn
Zack.
Zack has cool factor for me,
Zach does not.
Zeke is too much of a stretch IMO and doesn't sound cool to me.
Zechariah could be Ry. Or Caz, but that's maybe as much a stretch as
Zeke.
I agree with
Llewella about the kind of people who'd use
Zechariah /
Zachariah.
They work OK with
Cordelia.
Zara and
Zechariah comes to mind
