[Opinions] Carolina
This was the name of my barista this morning. It looked like she was in her early 20's to me. Thoughts? "And by the way, dearie, your punctuation sucks canal water!"

I like Carolina. I think I like it better pronounced Caro-LEENA and not Caro-LIENA but I would use both

It's ok, I prefer Caroline.

nice name!My in-laws have always persisted in thinking that my daughter, Carol, is actually named Carolina (Caro-LEEN-a), and Carol is just a short form.
I've never bothered, past one early try, to convince them otherwise, since it doesn't matter.

Wow, even the in-laws have no idea? Are they Carol's grandparents? This reminds me of my sister's in-laws. They spell my sister's dds' names Amy and Kimberly when they're really spelled Aimee and Kimberley and they HAVE been reminded several times. I don't get it.

No, I never knew my husband's parents;they died young. These were his sisters, and brother.English isn't their first language, so, no point making a fuss.

It's nice, though I guess Caroline or Carolyn might be better in English. I'm personally inclined to pronounce it Caroleena rather than like the Carolinas.

Aha! See my post above.

I prefer Caroline.
But I think Carolina would be cute with the nickname Calla.

I love Carolina, even more so than Caroline. Other than potential pronunciation issues, it has almost everything going for it.

When I see it, I always think 'Carolina Panthers' automatically, which is sad because I don't even care about football. Also, I notice the Carol- part of it more when I say Carolina than when I say Caroline. I think because I place more emphasis on the O....and now I'm actually not sure how to pronounce it as a name. I think I want to pronounce it differently than I do the state, which is weird.Ok, I instinctively pronounce them like this:Caroline as KER-oh-line.
Carolina as Ker-OH-lie-nah. (states and football team)
Carolina as Ker-oh-LEE-nah. (name)I like the last one the most. Caroline 2nd most.

Pretty name. Adds more flair than Caroline.

Ha, when my sister was pregnant with her first child she considered this name. That child is now almost 22, so I guess about the same age as the barista. My sister said she had considered Carolina rather than Caroline to be a little different and because it's not as common, but ultimately decided it was dumb. I think it's dumb too. Maybe the fact that I live in South Carolina doesn't help.
