I've always disliked Lucan. It reminds me of Luca and Lucas, which I hate. Also, Lucian, Lucien and Lucius are all perfectly good names, but Lucan seems made up. I know it isn't, but that's how I feel about it. I've got nothing positive to say about it.

I like it. I think I might prefer it to Lucian actually.

I'm actually surprised this hasn't picked up more before now. Personally, I'm ambivalent toward it (it does remind one of Lycan a bit), but it's on-trend for the resurgence of interest in Lucas and the popularity of -n ending names. Also, it's historical, so that "validates" it somewhat. I like Luca better, but of course, that would be a great nickname! I do like it better than Lucas.

Lord LucanWas my first thought. Especially as the story has been in the news again lately.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bingham,_7th_Earl_of_Lucan

I feel I should like it, but it makes me think of the mystically disappeared Lord Lucan (I'm a s*cker for stories about mystical disappearances).

It's a town near where I live (Irish spelling Leamhcan). I like the sound, but I can't separate it from the exit sign I see so often.

I am so glad someone finally acknowledged this name. I like Lucan a lot. I like it better than Luke, Lucas, and much better than Lucian(with which I have a bad association).
Lucan is so handsome without trying to hard.

I once read part of a book where the heroine was named Lucan. It was an old book, like from the 1910's. It has a spooky sound to it... probably because of Underworld? I think? Those were the werewolves right. Lucans. Ohh wait no they were Lycans. Still. I LIKE IT. It's better than Lucas.
