[Opinions] Cypress
I saw on celeb babies some couple had a baby boy:Cypress NightI actually love love love this combo, and I really love Cypress. I don't think i'd ever use it but i'm curious what everyone would pair with it?1) What do you think of Cypress (b)? Do you think it's too strange to use2) What would you use as a middle name?3) If you had to make a sibset with at least another brother and sister for Cypress what would it be?

I love Cyrus but not Cypress which seems more feminine to me. I do agree with you that Cypress Night is very descriptive and almost poetic ... almost.1. Yep, it's a bit strange, however, not too strange to use in today's naming climate.
2. It would make a better mn.
3. Cypress, Forest, Laurel / Magnolia

Cypress is actually really cool. I think I like it better for a girl only because of the -ess ending, but as a nature name it's fine for a boy. I don't think it excessively strange. For a boy perhaps Cypress Benaiah. I know they're totally different but I like having a name with more history and yet still unusual with it.I'm gonna get themey with the sunset. Cypress, Magnolia, and Hawthorn.

Cypress Night as a combo is a bit much, imo, but I do like the name Cypress... on a girl. The -ess strikes me as very feminine (Bess, Tess, etc.).If I were to name a boy Cypress, he'd need something strong as a middle name - strong, but not stereotypical or try-hard (i.e. no "Maverick"). Something like Cypress Henry, maybe, or Cypress Alexander. For a girl... Cypress sounds best, imo, with a middle name beginning with a vowel:Cypress Adele
Cypress Eileen
Cypress Ellen
Cypress Eloise
Cypress Emily
Cypress Enid
Cypress Erin
Cypress Evanna
Cypress Everly
Cypress Irene
Cypress Isabel
Cypress Odette
Cypress Olivia
Cypress Yvette
Cypress Yvonne
Resisting the urge to make a nature-themed sibset... I feel like brothers of Cypress would have names like:
Alister
Bayard
Damien
Leander
PiersAnd sisters with names like:
Aurora
Aveline
Camellia
Eloise
Emmeline
Madeleine
Nora
Romilly

Cypress Night is pretty awesome (as long as it wasn't the place of conception =P)I think Cypress is a spunky version of Cyrus plus I love place names.I've heard a lot stranger, so no, I don't think it's too strange to use.I kinda like the sound of Cypress Noah, Cypress Asher or Cypress Xavier.Cypress could have a brother named Archer and a sister named Harmony. Or if I was feeling corny, he could have a brother named Cairo and a sister named India =)

1) I actually quite like Cypress. It sounds better than it looks though. 2) I'd use something more classic with it, not a word name like Night. Cypress Alexander would be good, or Cypress Adam.3) Archer nn Archie and Lola.

1) I once taught a Cypress who was a girl, which I appreciated from a distance. For no particular reason, I don't really like it on a boy, but that combo does have personality and appeal, in spite of it being totally nms. It's usable.2) For a boy? Something that fits with the nature-y vibe while still being an established "name" - or at least that's what I'd try for. Cypress Jasper, Cypress Fox, something like that.3) Stellan, Cypress, and Elodie

Awesome!I was thinking about Cypress & Jasper as siblings, but Cypress Jasper is an awesome combo, same with Cypress Fox!Stellan, Cypress and Elodie are amazing siblings!

Cypress Night sounds like an old voodoo tale out of the bayous in Louisiana or something.
Cypress just isn't a name to me.
There is a book by some author with a long African name, Ntozaki or something like that, that features three sisters named Cypress, Indigo and Sassafras. That's the only sibset I can think of that includes Cypress.

Ntozake ShangeThe author you're thinking of is Ntozake Shange (so you were pretty close). She's most famous for the play "for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf," but "Sassafrass, Cypress & Indigo" is one of her novels.

I like Cyrus & Silas and Cy names in general. I like cypress trees. I guess I like it! 1) I wouldn't use it, but I don't think it's too weird. 2) An honoring name as with anything else. I definitely wouldn't use another word name like Night, though.3) Mara & Ephrem

I like it but in a GP sort of way.

1) It's like the nature-lovers' version of Cyrus or Cyprian. I wouldn't use it myself, but I think it's ok as a name.2) The first thing that came to mind was Fernando.3) Seth and Violet.

It sounds exactly like Cyprus, so the name just sounds like a caption on a holiday photo - or on a painting of a knight in Cyprus!
They are beautiful trees though.

I'm not bothered by Cypress or Night but I think it's too terribly hippie together.
