[Facts] meaning of Rockland? Rockland in other languages?
what is the meaning of Rockland? I was thinking it just meant a place that had rocksI was wondering what it could be in other languages, because I know peter means stone so I was thinking I could combine petros and an element that means land, you feel me?

I only know Rockland as a trade mark relating to Rock music (e.g. for a classic Rock radio station).With a bit of stretch, you could interpret the name Rockland as a Germanic name derived from *Rochnand (don't know whether this is a historically attested form, probably not) containing the name elements #ROCH# "fame" and #NAND# "daring, brave". The sound shift N->L also occurs in the name Roland.
