I adore Leo (and Leonidas and Leonie), however, Leopold and Leopoldine are just unfortunate. A man might be able to pull it off successfully, but for a woman to be saddled with Leopoldine is just cruel and unusual punishment, imo.

I like Leopoldine in theory, but I think it's too much in real life.I like Leopold though and would have considered using it in real life if my brother hadn't decoded on giving his son the middle name Leonard. My family would think I was a copycat, haha.A bit funny that he wanted to use Leonard as a middle name, as I a few months before the birth of my nephew suggested Leo and he said "what, is that even a name?". :)

They always reminds me of tadpole. I can't imagine either on a child in this day and age.

I really like Leopold. It's strong, handsome and regal, which are all very appealing to me in a name. Leopoldine I'm less of a fan of. I've never really liked the -ine ending.

I rather like Leopold in a GP sort of way. Leopoldine is too-ridiculous sounding.

I love Leopold and have the German ancestry to actually be able to use it without much batting of eyes. Leopoldine is really sweet and I like it but I like Leopold better and can't imagine them being in a sibset together.

My middle name is Leopoldo, the Portuguese form of Leopold. One of my Polish great-grandfathers was named Leopold. (He was affectionately known as Poldi.) Personally, it's not my style. I like Leonard better. However, I love the nickname Poldi!I don't like Leopoldine.(BTW, Butters from South Park's real name is Leopold.)

The only Leopolds I've ever heard of were royalty, so it comes across as pretentious to me. Also, it sounds like "Lee uphold" when I pronounce it, which seems awkward.I don't have any strong opinions about Leopoldine either way, although I'm generally fond of clunky and/or unusual -ine names.

If I think just about the sound, I like Leopold. Leopold II comes immediately to mind, though, and I find the name really unpleasantly dark and tainted as a result. Leopoldine is a clunk fest. I often like these so-ugly-they're-cute feminizations, but not this time.
