Like other people have mentioned, it's so associated with Amelia Bedelia that it's almost comical to think of using it...but I think that impression is strongest when it's the second name, so it'd be most usable as a first name.

I love Bedelia. I actually know of one who goes by Delia, so I've been thinking about it myself lately. I don't have that strong of association with Amelia Bedelia so maybe that's why I don't mind it.

It's awful, like a joke, which is probably why it is most famous paired as Amelia's last name.

I sort of like it as a fun occasional nickname for a Bridget or Brigid, but not so much on its own. Rich, gaudy, mean old lady. It's hard for me to come up with nicknames that don't absolutely throw it over the top.

Makes me think of Amelia Bedelia. I loved those books as a kid.
