I used to hate it, but now it's growing on me.

It's ok, but feels very old-ladyish.
The meaning is lovely, but it's pronounce just like fyllis, a Swedish word for a wino. So that ruins it for me!
I like it. I've never thought it was horrible, and 'The Railway Children' made me like it enough to put it on my list. I did think it was pronounced Phil-ih-siss when I first saw it, but that was probably just me being too lazy to read it properly. It's a nice vintage name with a lovely meaning too.
I think it's okay.
It's not just an old-lady name, it's a cranky, bad-tempered old-lady name. The kind whose dentures don't fit right and she's too stubborn to get them fixed, and too stubborn to wear a hearing aid so she gripes about people not talking loud enough.
I still hate it.
I hate it with a passion.
It's interesting and I don't hate it. The only time I've heard it used is in a video game similar to the Sims. It's the name of a rude post office clerk.
I've known a couple, and they've been nice people, which always helps.
It always surprises me to see it in South Africa, because it sounds exactly like the word for 'garbage' in one of the local languages. For that reason, I'd go for Phyllida.
