It was quite the wedding season in Sweden in the past weeks as the two eldest children decided to marry despite their young age. Twenty-two year old Axel, the adopted son of King Peter and his late wife Lovisa, married French princess Athéne. A union that had the potential of causing a scandal as the Princess is a catholic. With Axel out of line to the Swedish throne, the faith of the new bride did not matter at all in the end and the young couple enjoys the popularity in Swedish society.
The second marriage came as a surprise to everyone, not because of the union, but because of the young age of the bride. The newly out of age Queen Fredrika married a descendant of a Danish King, Count Valdemar af Rosenborg, three years her senior. They have known each other since they were children and fell in love two years ago, yet no one expected them to marry so early. Peter had a several heart to heart conversation with his eldest daughter, but she always seemed adamant and sure about her decision. In the end he gave his blessing for the marriage, who was he to stand in the way of his daughter's happiness. After the wedding of the century, Sweden has two King Consort's, but it's the Queen Regnant that is calling the shots.
