This round, the two eldest children each get a significant other; genders are of your choice.
The Prompt
As the years pass, the royal children begin to reach marriageable age. In particular, the eldest Princess of the late Monarch is rumoured to be on the verge of a betrothal with the scion of a reputable family. But not long after her engagement to said scion was confirmed, her elder brother introduced someone to the royal family--someone they strongly suspect to be his significant other--and his choice is nothing short of problematic. How are the royal family taking to these two new additions, and vice versa? What do the people think of these royal consorts? And how is the country recovering from the recent big war under its new ruler(s)?

Ayen is starting to recover from the war. Compared to others, Tavaraen has had it fairly easy. Population loss wasn’t as bad as in other parts of the Southlands and the fighting was mostly far away so the cities weren’t destroyed as Keenor was. Economically they’re still doing pretty badly, though. The vampires collect heavy taxes from every city, town, and village in the Southlands and as Tavaraen doesn’t often use money in its trading so it is almost always things that are taken.
Despite their young ages, Enola and Rankin have adjusted well to their new duties, Enola as the queen making decisions, laws, and improvements within Ayen and Rankin as one of her diplomatic advisors helping with matters that concern other kingdoms and cities. Now that she is old enough to be married Enola is betrothed to Aeron Slatewillow, the third oldest child of Navarre’s king and queen. It is not common practice in Tavaraen to marry only for political reasons, but in this situation it seemed like a good idea to tie the two cities closer together. The young couple will take over all responsibilities of ruling the kingdom once they are married.
Rankin has been spending most of his free time with the wanderers his foster sister allowed to stay in the woods near Ayen. Wanderers are fully nomadic people who live in mixed species groups. Well trained in fighting for their protection, the wanderers were a great help in the war. After it was lost, however, they refused to help the settled peoples recover from the aftermath. People found the wanderers strange before the war, but this almost unnatural ignoring of their own kind made the general opinion of them shift to suspicious. Enola tolerates them but agrees with the belief that they are abnormal. She hopes that Rankin's interest in them is no more than curiosity towards an unfamiliar way of life. The Southlands are already in a delicate state in every way and although Ayen is not incredibly important on the large scale any further disruption of normalcy could prove more problematic than it might in other circumstances.

With the Vilaro threat now firmly stamped out, the newly crowed King Tristan turned his attention to the pressing matter of building strong alliances so as never to face a coup again. His elder sister was of marrying age, and Cadfael had been slain before he had found a suitable match for her. Tristan quickly sought to tie the throne to the powerful House of Ruehl, whose patriarch Antonius had raised thousands of fighting men to the royal banners during the war. It was a fairly simple affair to betroth Princess Eira to Lord Antonius' heir, Titus, the young, brave hero of the Battle of Deep Cove. The citizens of Egremont agreed it was an excellent match.
Tristan ordered a feast to be held in celebration of his sister's upcoming nuptials. Lords and their ladies from near and far descended upon the royal keep to toast Eira's and Titus' good health and fortune. During the month-long festivities, Ieuan became acquainted with a young woman by the name of Sigrun. He fell madly in love with her (or as in love as one can get in less than 30 days), and she with him, but she was already wed - to Duke Hallbjörn of the Frost Islands, no less. It was well known that the Frost Islanders raised their sons from birth to be warriors, and Hallbjörn had sent many of them to Cadfael's aid. It would not do for Cadfael's own son - an illegitimate one, at that! - to be seen cavorting with the duke's wife. Tristan knew there was no stopping his brother from doing as he liked - Ieuan was as stubborn as any of Cadfael's trueborn sons - but he beseeched him to at least be discreet about the affair.

When the Crown Princess announced her engagement to the second son of the queen of an nearby land, the people rejoiced. While Lai Shi already enjoyed peaceful trade relations with the kingdom in question, a wedding should assure many years of peace. What's more, Leia and Jer seem to be truly in love and thoroughly happy together, much to everyone's delight.
But as plans for the great royal wedding brew, Niko has his own announcement - not that he quite intended it as such. Rene and Ari just happened to stumble across him in an amorous embrace with someone, well, controversial. The young woman known familiarly as Rune was one of the invading army that attacked Lai Shi, even participating in the very battle wherein the late Empress Demeter fell. She was the last of the invaders left fighting after the others had surrendered or fallen, never truly surrendering as she was knocked unconscious. While she has over the years earned many privileges for continued good behavior, she is still technically a prisoner of war. And while she is only four years older than Niko himself, many in Lai Shi still cling to the silly notion that a man should always be older than his wife. To make matters even "worse," she is nothing but a commoner who rose through the ranks of her kingdom's army by her own merit; a match between Niko and Rune, though apparently inevitable, will bring no political benefit to Lai Shi whatsoever.
But of course, the Princess Regent is well aware that the late Empress herself went ahead with a love match in the face of anyone and everyone's disapproval, so while she is still somewhat cautious of Rune's loyalty and trustworthiness, she encourages Niko to follow his heart.

Thalia had always had a soft spot for the youngest Prince of Sumara. She liked his wild hair, his brown eyes, and especially his smile. He was a few years older than her, and Thalia never thought they would be more than friends. What started as a friendship grew into something else over time. They slowly developed a romantic relationship, and by now they can't imagine a life without each other. Prince Darius of Sumara recently popped the question - and Thalia accepted of course. It was all over the news after that, and everyone was happy for them and people couldn't believe how lucky Thalia was to have the handsome Darius, neither could they believe that he had the oh so beautiful Thalia.
It's a different story when it comes to the king. He recently introduced Isadora to his family. It isn't official that she's his girlfriend, but she is. The two of them are very much in love, even though she isn't a perfect match for the King, at least if you ask the people of Gretalia. Isadora likes to party, and she doesn't exactly have a soft mouth. She speaks her mind, and some people thinks she should learn how to keep her mouth shut. The King likes it though. Leonardo thinks that people are afraid to speak their mind around him, and he finds Isadora refreshing and courageous. His mother, Katerina, is wise enough to leave her children's love lives alone. All she wants is for them to be happy, no matter if it's a handsome prince or a party princess. Heck, she doesn't even care if they are poor, after all, she wasn't from a noble family either before marrying the late king.

Eira is undergoing the entire process graciously. She knows her duty and accepts that she'll be assigned a husband; she even likes him a little bit, and he's loved among the public. But still she's jealous Tyr got to choose his own, since he's not the heir. By the way, when news about Tyr got out, he was met with suspicion at first, but soon warmed the hearts of the mountain's residents and gained a little fame as the rebellious "bad boy" all the young dwarven girls crushed on, but really he's just a giant softie. He became a ranger to protect the mountain and its surroundings, developing a love for nature. He even met his girlfriend Olwyn in the woods; she's a forest elf.
Eira really likes Tyr's girlfriend. They hang out together sometimes, and Eira starts to think maybe this wouldn't be that bad after all. Until both marriages are announced to the public, and Tyr's elvish girlfriend gets a lot of backlash. Dwarves still don't like Elves, and vice versa. (Even Ibûn wasn't sure at first, but Vígdís convinced him to support Tyr.) Eira just hopes that she won't lose her first best friend.
Queen Vígdís has changed a lot in the kingdom, modernising it and making it more efficient, as well as strengthening bonds with befriended kingdoms and making new contacts. Despite her background of being banished from her kingdom she's much loved, as she's done a lot of good for the mountain and is the mother of the kingdom's sweethearts, Freya and Iker.

They had put the ship on auto pilot to spend a few minutes together as they floated through space. Guinevere pressed her lips against his lightly, whispering between contact, "Seb, sweetie, are we just always going to be this way?"
Sebastian pulled away and looked her straight in the eyes. This was not what he had wanted. He wanted to spend a few passionate moments with her before he popped the question. And, yes, he had been planning to do so at this moment long before she brought it up. "What way?" he sighed, absently running his fingers through her hair.
"Just you and me. Hidden from our parents. No one knowing that you and I even know each other, let alone have this strong connection," she explained, a little exasperated. "I know it doesn't matter to my family, because I can always come visit you with no one knowing, but... it does matter to me. I want them to know you. I want them to see how happy you make me. Sebastian, I can't live like this forever." With those words, she locked eyes with him, a pained expression on her face. Sebastian's heart went right out to her.

While technically, young Leonardo was almost of age to take the principality on his own, he still deferred to his mother and uncle for advice, and they in turn helped ease him into his responsibilities.
One thing Leonardo was glad he was thus far spared of was marriage. Vanozza, now a fair girl of sixteen, had reached marriageable age, but due to other pressing businesses, had not yet been betrothed. It was a bit unusual for the Manco family to not have arranged future unions for their children from an earlier age, but Michele had never been eager to marry off his children for politics' sake, especially not when he, himself, had chosen to marry Caterina by his own volition. But now, none of the Manco children had determined spouses.
Until, that is, Vanozza found her match. Always said to be remarkably like her mother, Vanozza stunned more men with her sharp tongue than with her plain looks, and they in turn bored her with their empty flattery and ghostwritten poems. It wasn't until she met Valentino Scierra, scion to the Scierra family which had long been friends with the Manco family, that she finally met a suitable sparring-partner. She and Valentino engaged in battles of intellect, trading commentary and witticisms on every occasion.
