I'm sure I'd get used to it quickly if I knew one. It works, for sure. But it's not my thing, because of the "no" and because it's too randomwordish.

Considering it as a baby name, I think it's bad. Because I think of Chevy Nova (with the joke that in Spanish it means "it doesn't go"), and of exploding stars as a metaphor for fits of anger (someone I knew used to refer to people "going nova" when they were angered). Anyway, exploding stars are not the greatest thing to name someone after... kind of like naming someone Quasar. "New" is the very last meaning I think of. Also, there's the out-loud problem: "Come on, Nova" ... haha. That's all irrelevant but it's stuff I think of, that puts me off the name.

It's not so bad. I probably would never use it personally but I don't mind it. I would definitely avoid pairing it with space or element related names such as Star or Rain.

I hate it. Something about it annoys me and I don't know why. Perhaps the astronomical link; I suppose you've guessed now that I'm not big on astronomical names. I also think it sounds somewhat incomplete.

I really like it for a girl. It is a name that often just flits into my mind.

And yes, I consider that a good thing. Besides that, I see stars and fuzzy red-and-yellow lights. It's a fiery little name that I do like, but it's not my first choice simply because there are so many names I like more than it. Plus, a part of me wonders how well it would fit a middle-age/elderly woman. I'd still like to meet a little Nova, though.

I know a Nova, who's about 7 years old. I didn't like the name at first, but she's such a sweet kid that it really helped the name grow on me. I'm not sure I'd use it, though.

I think it's pretty! Like, a supernova! If you wanna be really cheesy, you could pair it as Nova Star...

Where I live, it's a brand name for stone and wood sealants. Plus, there's the Novak Djokovich factor - perhaps you've guessed I'm not a fan? Generally speaking, then, it's a thumping great No.

Also, how long would anyone be, technically, new? Wouldn't it be rather like those unfortunate middle-aged women who still use their childhood nickname of Baby?

I actually really like it. I wish that I could consider it useable, but for now I just have it as a GP. It seems a bit too out there and it makes me think of the show on PBS for me to actually consider using it.

Scotia! As in Nova Scotia, the Canadian province where I was born. So, no.

I want to like it, because it is short and sweet but I can't fully like it and would never use it because it sounds like a brand name a la Chevy Nova.

It reminds of the PBS science show and the crappy Chevrolet one of my uncles had.
