The Good:
Ruby has been growing on me for some time now. I like its vintage nature, and I find it strong, like it has backbone, without being overbearing. I also get a vibrant and earthy vibe from it. Fittingly, it is red to me (deep red usually, although some names can brighten it).
The Iffy: However, when I think of it as a stone name, it gets a bit cheesy and precious. It's also the surname of my aunt's husband, and therefore her and their two daughters. Additionally, I'm pretty sure it's the name my SIL considered for awhile if she ever had a girl. It was her grandmother's name or something. She had mixed feelings about using the name, but now, her third son will be coming any day and he's probably the last for them, so she probably will not have the opportunity to name a girl. (ETA: I would definitely talk to her were I at a point where I was seriously considering it for an actual child-on-the-way.)
I'm starting to toy with the idea of adding it to my potentially-will-use name list.
What are your thoughts on
Ruby in general? What are your thoughts about using it in my situation?
I came up with some combos today as well. Opinions and suggestions welcome as well!
