Sylvan is a nice name. For some reason it makes me think of vampires, I suspect it's a name in a TV show of some sort. I have no real strong opinions on it. I don't hate the name and I think it's an uncommon boys name without being a strange name or totally unheard of :D

I like this name. Strangely, I first came across it a few years ago when an old friend of mine used it on her Sonic the Hedgehog fan character, ha. I thought at the time that she had made it up.

The name always makes me think of trees and woods, probably because of the meaning of the word. That's a good thing for me, as I tend to like outdoorsy, natural, "green" names for boys. I prefer the Sylvan spelling.

I like it, it's reasonably popular where I live-certainly not overused.

I prefer Sylvan, but then, I'm always going to like a "y" in a name, unless it's forced in ridiculously.

I think of the learning center as well, but that's not necessarily the worst association. I like the sound in the same way I love Sylvie, obv. Thumbs up from me.

I like it. I can picture it fitting in fine among kids named things like Sebastian and Gratian and Lucian. Sylvain would seem super-French here (try-hard and difficult, on someone who didn't speak French) but Sylvan does not. Sylvan's about as much a poetic word as Trinity or Constance is, so I don't think something like Sylvan Learning Center wrecks it at all. IMO, things like that only bother people when a name is just a name on paper, and stop when they meet a real person with a name.

I like Silvan and it looks more Roman. But Sylvan seems more conventional... dunno. I guess if I were a man with the name, I'd rather be Silvan.

I've seen Silvan used, it's very pretty in my opinion. I prefer that spelling to Sylvan, it makes me think of Latin "silva", "forest".

I don't care for it. But it's probably because I can't separate it from the Sylvan Learning Center. Not that it's a bad connection, I mean the business helps kids, but idk, it makes the name take on a sillier feel to me

I'd go for Sylvain, honestly. Sylvan is much too adjectival - like Rural or Rustic!

I'm not a fan, though I do like Silvester so you'd think i'd like it. It has a sinister feel to me (unsure why)

Oh, I like it. I've always liked Sylvia for a girl, so this is a nice masculine version. Brilliant!
