[Opinions] Re: Welsh Names
in reply to a message by Mwa
Well, I prefer Welsh names that have been Anglicized, like Tristan and Meredith ..
My POV depends a lot on the fact that I've spent my whole tiny life in the US. I think that when the name contains phonemes from Welsh language which are quite foreign to English speakers where you live, it's too distracting to use the name for a kid in an English speaking place -- unless you happen to be a Welsh speaker yourself, which sort of excuses you. Gruffydd, in my opinion, at least ought to have some Welsh blood. Griffith doesn't need it. It's not as big an issue with Welsh names as it is with Irish names, though.
I notice that a lot of the names you are giving here are Anglicized, which is nice.
