Brogan are all unisex and Irish, so that might give you the masculine feel that you like.
I have always personally like
Maura, which is more modern and less in-your-face Irish than
Maureen (which I also love). Plus, Morry is a masculine nickname and could be reasonably used for
Maura.
Mona,
Moira and
Myrna are decent alternatives to that too.
