[Opinions] Camryn and Laverne
Camryn and Laverne
Two very different names, I know, but both have been on my mind today (both for girls). Neither fit my normal style at all but Wdyt?

Laverne was the name of my best high school friend's mother. Touching upon RoxStar's image, this Laverne was a little overweight by the time I knew her when she was in her 40s, but hadn't been when younger, and certainly not 300 pounds. And attractive. Gave singing and piano lessons, and was the musical director of all of the local theater's productions. Totally cool woman.
She was a guest at my wedding, her daughter being the maid of honor. My sister-in-law's name is Shirley, and she was at my wedding also, so I've always chuckled at there being a Laverne and a Shirley at my wedding.
I always associate the name Laverne with my friend's mother so I've never been able to dislike it, although it's certainly not something I would ever use.
Camryn, on the other hand, is abominable. As is Cameron.

Laverne makes me think of a kindly old black man who sits outside, watching his neighborhood, and grieving of the lose of that neighborhood's youth, and he tries to help anyone out if they have a problem, no matter who they are. I don't know why I think that, but I do. It has the sounds for it but I can't really think of it as a feminine name.
I think Camryn is best spelled Cameron, regardless of gender.
