Do you think Regan is creepy because of "The Exorcist"? Do you like it?

I thinks it's creepy because of King Lear. I've never seen the Exorcist.

No, it's not creepy because of the movie.
Neither is any other name I can think of, creepy because of a movie. Except maybe Chuckie? lol.
I can't remember where I first heard the name but it wasn't in the Exorcist movie. I remember recognizing it when I did see the movie and realizing that the name was not as new as I'd thought. I thought it sounded androgynous, but also reminded me of the word "regal," so I sort of liked it.
This was before Megan became insanely popular ... I don't think I had yet met my first Megan. That was during the Reagan years and I never noticed that it was similar to Reagan. I still don't think it's very similar to Reagan, in fact, and honestly it annoys me a lot that people pronounce Regan as "RAY GUN" and apparently consider it to be basically the same name. But I guess that's inevitable.
Anyway I think it's an alright name - kind of like Morgan it has that androgynous-but-not-transsexual 80s vibe to me. But it is now ruined by Reagan, and a little by the popularity and MAY-GUN prn of Megan. Not by the movie.

I don't hate it, and I don't find it creepy, but I do think of it as a negative name with some baggage. (This is more because of "King Lear" than "The Exorcist," but the latter might contribute to my feelings--I hated that movie.)
Also, I don't pronounce it like Reagan, but I know many people do. For me, that's just another reason to keep it at arm's length.

I'm not sure what country you live in, but in the US, Regan isn't ultra-trendy, based upon the popularity statistics. It entered the top thousand for the first time in 1974, fell off again in 1982, never having gotten higher than #650, then entered the top thousand again in 1991, but has never gotten higher than #389. I could not prove this, but I think that "The Exorcist" caused Regan to become more popular and less popular at the same time. 1974 was the year after "The Exorcist" was released, so I think that's the reason it entered the top thousand that year. On the other hand, it's never gotten higher than #389, and is currently at #878, and given its close similarity to Megan, which was indeed quite trendy and popular in the 80s and 90s, I really think that "The Exorcist" is the reason it hasn't seen much higher numbers.

Regan on its own isn't very high in the popularity charts, I agree. But when you consider the spelling "Reagan" which is almost in the top 100, the name itself is somewhat popular.
And the name isn't trendy everywhere in the U.S. but it is in the region I live in. Same thing with Karolina. It's not even on the popularity charts for the U.S. but where I live, Karolina's outnumber Ashley's, easily.

I've never seen the exorcist. Is this pronounced Ree-gan or as in the president? Either way, if its the former I think it sounds ugly and if the latter I just can't get the president out of my head when I hear it.

Are you sure it's pronounced "REE-gan" in the movie?? I haven't seem it in a long while but seem to remember it being pronounce "RAY-gan"

Never watched The Exorcist (nor do I intend to. Supernatural horror is not my genre), but even so, it's not my favorite name. It's very boyish for a girl, not to mention trendy. Ultimately, I can't see it aging well. For a boy, I like it better, but still not very much. Me and my friend did give the name to a quirky, goofy dino (male) that we created though, and that did make me warm up to the name quite a bit (albeit spelt Reagan).
