Rose and Charley moved in with each other just six months after they began dating. They both have left a string of broken heart before them, but now, aged 29 and 27, they are ready to commit to each other.
Year1: Rose and Charley move out of their pokey flat into a 3-bed house, in the central-eastern town of Long Stratton, England.

Year2: Charley's grandfather passes away leaving Charley a tidy sum of £100,000, for now Charley puts most of it in savings until he figures out what to do with it.
Meanwhile the couple have been going through testing by social services to find out if they are suitable adoptive parents, finally they are given the go ahead and meet six year old Scott Riley (light brown hair and blue eyes) who is new to the care system. He is happy to come home to his new parents.

Year3: Rose finds herself being reprimanded after publishing a controversial report on bad parenting and neglect. She is dismissed from work pending further investigation.
The scandal causes her and Charley to have a blazing row in which he walks out. For six weeks Charley sleeps on his brothers sofa before crawling home, they agree to put the whole thing behind them.

Year4: Charley and Rose agree to Scott's pleads for a dog, acknowledging how character building the responsibility will be. They take their son to a local shelter and he picks out an 18month blue, female Australian Shepherd mix. Her name is already Crystal, which Scott is happy to keep.
Just after adopting Crystal however Rose discovers she is pregnant, and already 3months down the line. Once Scott is reassured that Crystal won't have to go back to the shelter, he is excited to become a big brother, especially when he hears a little boy is to be born. Right on schedule, Archer Vincent pops into the world with dark brown hair and brown eyes.

Rose names her Astrid.
