I'm a primary school teacher and today I took a closer look at the names on the class lists of current and former years. Some of them are quite unusual. What do you think of them? Esperanza
Zino (prn. Zee-no)

Indra (girl)
Laïs (girl, prn. LAH-ees)
Léontine

I live in Belgium too and my husband's a primary school teacher, he comes across the weirdest names at his school too :-) Sabeth (guess this is a short form of Elisabeth): not sure, I could get used to it.
Benoni (boy, prn. Beh-NO-nee): kind of cute for a little boy, but when he grows up...
Alani (girl, prn. Ah-LAH-nee): I don't like it, a bit tacky
Esperanza: no. Just no.
Zino (prn. Zee-no): ugh, no
Iboyka (prn. EE-boy-kah): is this a boy? It sounds kind of cute
Dante (prn. DAHN-tay): pretty common in Belgium, I'd say. I hate this name.
Virgil (prn. Veer-GHIL): I kind of like it
Felten (boy, prn. FEL-tehn): not too bad
Humphrey: not sure, a bit old fashioned, but very unique in Belgium.
Héloïse: I really like this name
Cypriaan (prn. as Cyprian with a stress on the 'a'): very nice
Livia: a bit boring
Theodor: i LOVE Theodor, it's on our list of baby names
Klara: old fashioned
Atalia: not my style
Indra (girl): don't like it
Laïs (girl, prn. LAH-ees): this reminds me of that Belgian band
Léontine: ugh, that's so old lady-ish
Jerko: just ugly
Indiana: kind of cute
Wolf: I really like Wolf
Jupiter (no kidding ...): weird
Phil: oh, poor boy
Tanisha: American tacky name
Annette: I like this name
Salie (girl, prn. SAH-lee, means 'sage' in Dutch): well, since Tijmen and other plant names are used, I think Salie is ok. I actually like it
Kay: nice if it's a boy
Eben (prn. AY-ben): I LOVE Eben
Feline: that's an ugly name
Parsifal: a bit over the top, but not too bad
Carlotta: I really like this one
Ona - Louise: not that bad.

Sabeth: I like this. It's a bit "witchy" (in a good way). It reminds me of Salem, Sabrina, Sable, and Sabela.
Benoni: Huh. I don't dislike it. I think it could grow on me. It's interesting, sounds cute and a little "foreign" although I'm not sure what language I think it sounds like.
Alani: I like it. It's pretty and fits many ages. It's also not very common (where I live) but still easy to spell.
Esperanza: Really like this one. I've been a fan of this name ever since I first saw it. It's so fun to say! And it's also fairly versatile IMO.
Zino: Sounds sort of cool. It's sort of nicknamey sounding, and also "zippy" and "cool".
Iboyka: Interesting. I'd like to see this on someone.
Dante: I've met a few people named this. I like it in general.
Virgil: Cool, although I prefer it as a nickname.
Felten: Hmm. I like the sound, but I'm still not sure. It looks like an adjective meaning "made of felt".
Humphrey: Nope nope nope. Old, ugly, and nope.
Héloïse: Pretty.
Cypriaan: I like it, but prefer just Cyprian.
Livia: Alright. It's pretty. I like it as a nickname or a full name.
Theodor: Good. It's a nice name.
Klara: Okay. I prefer the look of Clara though.
Atalia: Alright. I should like it, but I mostly find it neutral.
Indra: Very pretty and mysterious. I like it.
Laïs: Okay. I think I like it.
Léontine: Pretty. I like it.
Jerko: Nah. Sounds bad in English...
Indiana: Boy or girl? Either way it's pretty cool, especially with Indy.
Wolf: I like it. It can be OTT in some situations though.

Alani is really neat. I just saw it on another response about names that end in I and it caught my attention there as well. I used to like Alana, and this is more out-there...which I love!Benoni is fun. I enjoy Benjamin, Benno, and Benedict, so this isn't too far-fetched for me. Carlotta is sweet. I could see it pairing well with my favourite Mattea. Sisters names Mattea and Carlotta? Eh? I think SO! :)

Ona-Louise is so pretty! How would you say Ona - like "onna" or "oh-na"?

I'd say Oh-na. It's a pretty name, indeed :-)
