Help[Opinions] Opinions on Rose
Although my girls list is growing by the week, there are very few names that I love and I struggle to realistically see any of them on a daughter of mine... Except for Rose.
Not Rosemary, Rosalie, Rosabella or Rosamund. Just Rose.
Having lived with a nickname as a full name, I can say that there have been several moments where I've wanted to have a "proper full name", and it annoyed me as a child when people asked if my name was short for something. Do you think Rose would go through a similar thing or is it strong enough to stand on it's own without being questioned?
And lastly, what's your general opinion on Rose?
Boys names come much easier to be, and any brothers that Rose might have would be Tobias and Sebastian.

I love it. I agree that just Rose beats any of its lengthened forms, it's a beautiful name. I don't think you'd have much of a problem with ppl thinking it's a nickname, maybe occasionally but I really don't think she'd get asked that very much.

Rose can definitely be used as a full name.
I like it, although I prefer it as a middle name, even though that's a bit cliché and boring. It's a bit too popular fo me to use, but it's a very nice name.
It also makes me think of Rose Tyler from Doctor Who and that makes me cry.
I don't like Tobias and Sebastian, to be honest, bu they do match with Rose.

Rose is a beautiful name, whether on it's own or as a nn for a longer Rose name. I don't think it would be an issue having Rose as a full name. I like the sound of Rose with Tobias and Sebastian too.
By the way, I adore your name! Millie/Milly has been a fave of mine for years and a name I would seriously consider using in the future for a DD of my own. It's a gorgeous name.

Rose can totally stand on its own. In fact, it is underused on its own. I don't even consider Rose as a nickname- like if I had a little Rosemary, she'd be Rosie or Romy before I'd call her Rose. And you can nickname Rose too, with Rosie.
I think it's a strong feminine name that should get more use.

I'm quite bored of the name Rose but I have never disliked it. I think Rose is often thought of as a name in it's own right. I went to school with a girl named Rose and I can never remember her being asked what it was short for so I wouldn't think the nickname issue would be a problem.

I have a cousin Rose and as far as I know she has never had trouble with people thinking it was short for something. Occasionally people will try and call her Rosie which drives her bananas, but that's all. I actually love the name a lot. It's simple and elegant and, IMO, kind of under appreciated.

I agree with the others. No one is going to think Rose is a NN for something because it's a full name in its own right. And it's very vintage and pretty. Use it.

I love Rose. Overused as a middle name, but underused as a first name. Such vintage charm. And I definitely don't think it's the type of name that people would automatically think was a nickname. It's NOT a nickname.

Rose is definitely not automatically considered a nickname in the US. Highly unlikely that Rose would ever have people assume Rose is short for anything.

Rose is very much its own name, I don't think people will assume its a nickname at all! If you named her Rosie, then they would. I love how simple and sophisticated Rose feels on its own. I also love the imagery I get from it, it involves a dark room, candles, and a mahogany piano (no roses!). :) I went to high school with a Rose who made me like it a bit too, so no bad associations for me.
