I prefer it on a girl because it reminds me of Megan and Morgan le Fay. I think it works okay on a guy because it can also seem surnamey and has a chunky, heavy sound. But it seems vaguely vain and dark on a man.
Wow, I looked at the popularity and it was pretty popular recently. I did not know that. But it hasn't been too popular - 1 in 200 per year is not that bad. If I were naming a baby today I'd be a little worried that it was kind of a fading fad, though.

Yes, it was very popular in the 90s. It almost made the top 20 which really surprised me as well. The good thing is that it wasn't very popular for a long time (it was near the middle or bottom of the top 100 for most of the time and only in the top 30 for a few years). So it might sound a little dated, like Sabrina, Selena or Paige or something but not very dated like Jennifer, Melissa or Ashley. At least I hope so.
