My newest name obsession is Rayner, which I find distinguished and reminiscent of the Old World yet perfectly compatible with the current times. What does everyone think of it? I know it's a random name to fawn over, but I can't help it -- I'm smitten with its unexpected suavity. Which of these combinations do you like?Rayner Algernon

I'm a fan, but prefer Rainier (Rayner is to much like Ryder, Ryker and similar trendy names).

Prefer Rainier, just looks more refined and cleaner to me, but either way really like this name. Off your list I really like Rayner Augustus, Rayner Benjamin, Rayner Julius, Rayner Ludwig, Rayner Ulysses, and Rayner Valentine.

It's my MILs maiden name. I would use it to honour my partners grandparents who have passed but I don't like it when I think of some of his relatives who bear the name as a surname and aren't exactly the sort of people I want to have my child associated with by name.

It was my music teacher's surname. Thus will always remain a surname to me, not a first name.Despite that, these are the combos I like from your list:
