I've known a few Suttons. I didn't know that Sutton Foster existed (but then again I'm bad with knowing the names of famous people :P)
To me it sounds like a surname-- I only think of it as female because the Sutton's I've met have all been female.
I think it's a bit too trendy. I associate it with names like Paige, Bailey, and Fallon. Sort of "trendy" girls names that aren't particularly feminine sounding. Not that I don't like some names for girls that don't sound feminine... I guess I just don't like this one.
For some reason it makes me think of a spoiled preteen who lives on a ranch. No idea why :P
