[Opinions] Sutton

I think it sounds pretentious. Like you want to sound like an upper class Southern family. I don't hate it though and that is just my first impression. It could grow on me.
It does sound slightly more like a girl's name but I wouldn't be shocked or appalled to see it on a boy. And I am not familiar with Sutton Foster so I wouldn't think it would be after her.

I've actually known a couple girls named Sutton. As far as surnames as first names go, this one isn't bad. I think the sound is pretty and it doesn't end in -son, so it seems more appropriate than say, Madison, for a girl.
Sutton is a surname. And as far as I am concerned surnames are unisex though most of them in my eyes tend to lean towards the masculine side. I think this for Sutton as well, I can't see it on a little girl, despite it being the surname of one of my female childhood best friends.
I don't know who Sutton Foster is, so I wouldn't assume that you got it from her.

Sutton is just an English surname to me. I don't think it sounds feminine at all, sorry.
I have no idea who Sutton Foster is, I only think of Sutton Hoo. The burial site, you know? If I met a girl named Sutton, I would probably yell "SUTTON HOO!"
I much prefer it for a boy, it's so adorable. It's all sweater-vesty. I guess it's pretty unisex though, it could work on a girl too. It doesn't sound like a girl's name to me, honestly. It's really WASP surnamey and few of those names have a feminine flair in my mind.

I've never heard of Sutton Foster.
But I have heard of, and seen some of, the remarkable finds from Anglo-Saxon burials at Sutton Hoo, so when I hear 'Sutton' I find I'm waiting for the 'Hoo'!
As a human name, male or female, it's nms to say the very, very least. But there is a fashion for geographical names as well as actressy names, so no doubt a human Sutton wouldn't be alone.

I've known a few Suttons. I didn't know that Sutton Foster existed (but then again I'm bad with knowing the names of famous people :P)
To me it sounds like a surname-- I only think of it as female because the Sutton's I've met have all been female.
I think it's a bit too trendy. I associate it with names like Paige, Bailey, and Fallon. Sort of "trendy" girls names that aren't particularly feminine sounding. Not that I don't like some names for girls that don't sound feminine... I guess I just don't like this one.
For some reason it makes me think of a spoiled preteen who lives on a ranch. No idea why :P

I doubt everyone will assume that you got the name from Sutton Foster. For my part I have never heard of Sutton Foster before.
I don't think that Sutton sounds like a girl's name mostly because surnames are more often used for boys. I don't like it much. It seems very unmusical and it rhymes with 'mutton.'
