I'm reading a book right now with a main character with the name August. I also loved hearing it in the movie August Rush. I feel like it's a very warm name. Although I'm not a huge fan of the possible nicknames Augie or Gus so idk if that's enough to be a turn off. Overall though, I feel like it sound unusual without being too out there and I loud that. Let me know what you think.
