Interesting; I've always thought of Cordelia as warm and friendly.

I've always loved Cordelia. Besides the Shakespeare connection, it was also a character on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Too bad hubby doesn't like it. And I don't mind the nn Cordy.

I use to absolutely love this name. I still think it's very pretty and I do like it a lot. I've considered using it if I ever have a daughter. I'd use Corie as a nn.

Where I live, Cornelius and Cornelia are widely used, so Cordelia seems fresh by comparison. It also seems like Cornelia with a bad cold. And the Shakespeare association makes it a bit iffy. I've never been able to make up my mind about King Lear's youngest! If it were me, I'd stick to Delia.

It's better than Cornelia. But it just makes me think of King Lear, and Cordelia is such a goody goody in that play.

Cordelia is one of my very favorite names. Even if she weren't a tragic Shakespearean heroine, I would still find the name to sound like that of a Medieval or Celtic princess. The only drawback, in my opinion, is the potential nickname "Cordy." I'd try to make "Delia" stick as a nickname, if I used any, ASAP.

It's always sounded beautiful and refined to me. Maybe a bit on the cool side, but I don't see that as a problem. The nickname Delia could be cute, too.

I much prefer it to Cornelia. If you're looking for a similar-sounding name, Cordula has always sounded a bit warmer to me.

I love Cordelia! I don't think it sounds cold or strict. It's formal, but beautiful, and it has several nickname options that can make it more "fun."

Cordelia is the name of a pegasus knight in Fire Emblem. It's not bad at all.

I fell for this name too when I first read it in Anne of Green Gables. It is a perfecly elegant name :). Although you do have a point that it can sound cold and strict but nonetheless I still like the name.
